Texas State University seeks to lose accreditation and federal funding. Enough is enough. Educational institutions that don’t know the difference between math and activism should not be allowed to teach and should not receive federal funding.

They are looking for jackasses who can evenly divide the 150 billion the “oppressed” are demanding in “reparations”.

Maybe they couldn't get into UT Austin but they still look pretty good from here 🤡

Thank you. No matter your politics, 2 + 2 = 4 and a x a +
b x b = c x c. No matter your politics, there 180 degrees in a triangle and a straight line. So, tell me, what do the political inclinations have to do with it?

OMG, I thought there was still hope for TSU. Being too close to Austin and UT has finally done it in.

Yeah, when we secede, we’re walling off Austin. Now, it appears we’ll be walling off a whole section of I-35 from Austin to San Marcos.

True. If you flunk out of UT, TSU will take you.

Real “social justice” math - Pay attention in school and learn math so you wont be poor and needy and “oppressed”. Heck, you might even make yourself “privileged”!

The problem is, no matter what color you are 2 and 2 makes 4. Makes it hard to twist the truth. Most mathematicians I know are conservative.

“whose primary purpose is to give credentials for future employers.”

That was a result of the Griggs v Duke Power decision in 1971.

That decision pretty much put an end to corporations being able to screen applicants with their own in house testing. So in order to have some kind of screening they began to require college for virtually everything.

This turned colleges into gatekeepers for employment. It’s why most everyone thinks that they need college to get a good job.

What these guys are going to be in is not a true math degree program. The graduates of this program will get a degree in the college of education and will probably teach in middle school. If they do research in topology it will be on their own time, not part of the job.

I gather this is Texas State University at San Marcos. A University differs from a College insofar as it can grant a Ph.D., or doctoral degree, and a College cannot. What the hell would a Doctorate from Texas State be worth? A bottle of spit?

Then you can say 2 X 2 is 5 or maybe 3.

Furthermore, this is the college of education, not the college of arts and sciences. Is a PhD in women’s studies at UT worth more than a BS in engineering from TSU? I have 2 degrees from UT but I am really impressed by those Aggie engineers.

When I read the title in the Forum I accidentally read “Math” as “Meth”
Texas State University Seeks Meth Professors.....

And since they are Social Justice characters, you won’t be allowed to criticize meth professors.

is this real?

To be honest, I don't recall whether it was debunked. I just remembered the "word problem" bit and did a search. The social media "caption" that mentions "Language Arts" does raise suspicion - but it sure looks like something that a gathering of drunk teachers might concoct after a long week of dealing with hundreds of 'hood rats.

“What the heck does math have to do with social justice and vice versa?”

The HELL if I know...but ANY PARENT sending their kid to public school should be able to answer your question.

...or they wouldn’t be doing that.
