Dem megadonor Steyer demands lawmakers and candidates back impeaching Trump

Billionaire Democratic donor Tom Steyer wrote a letter to Democrats on Wednesday demanding the party pledge to impeach President Trump if they take control of Congress next year.

In a letter first reported by The New York Times, the California mega-donor calls Trump a “clear and present danger to the republic," and urges Democratic lawmakers to "make your position clear" regarding removing the president from office.

“This is not just an issue of Twitter screeds but what it means for a person who has control over our nuclear arsenal,” Steyer said Wednesday. “I hope you will make your position clear so that Democratic voters who are under constant attack by this administration, know their elected representatives have the patriotism and political courage to stand up and take action.”

Steyer also appeared to take a shot at California Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D), who announced Monday that she will seek reelection next year.

Feinstein angered some Democrats in August when she said that Trump had an opportunity to be a "good" president.

“It is clear for all to see that there is zero reason to believe ‘he can be a good president,’” Steyer wrote in his letter.

Steyer spent more than $91 million supporting Democrats in the last election cycle, and there has been some speculation that he could consider running against Feinstein.

We call your actions treasonous and seditious, Steyer. You’re the clear and present threat to our republic.

Does he realize it takes 2/3rds of the Senate to convict?

One of the Top Ten Reasons why the Dem Party is doomed.

They are beholden to a handful of whackjob donors
who are going to march them out on a limb.

“It is clear for all to see that there is zero reason to believe ‘he can be a good president,’”

Does this meet the Constitutional definition of a "High crime" or "Misdemeanor"? If so, Jimmy Carter would have been impeached back in the 70s.

Does he realize it takes 2/3rds of the Senate to convict?

Probably.Maybe he assumes that once impeached but not removed he figures that the left's chorus of "resign now" will cause him to resign.

Direct letters FROM a donor TO a single party caucus DEMANDING a specific ACTION is bribery, is it not? Nothing implied or suggested or indirect about this.

No weasel words here he can hide behind. That the democrats on the FEC can hide behind.

For what Styer? To impeach someone you have to charge them with something illegal under the terms of the Constitution. And impeaching him does not remove him from office you idiot. To do that you have to prove he violated high crimes or misdemeanors. Your thinking that he is not, or will not become, a good president doesn’t fall under any criminal category. Just stupid ones thinking your thoughts mean anything to anyone of value.

Didn’t you learn anything from the Clinton impeachment?

The Constitution defines impeachable acts and he has done none.

It also defines Treason and the dictionary defines sedition and this idiot and people who think like him are guilty of both and should pay the traditional penalty at the end of a rope.
