Environmental groups denounce Trump override of climate plan

HAZARD, Ky. (AP) — A coalition of left-leaning states and environmental groups are vowing to fight the Trump administration's move to kill an Obama-era effort to limit carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants.

Speaking Monday in the coal-mining state of Kentucky, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said he would be issuing a new set of rules overriding the Clean Power Plan, the centerpiece of President Barack Obama's drive to curb global climate change.

"The war on coal is over," Pruitt declared, adding that no federal agency should ever use its authority to "declare war on any sector of our economy."

It was not immediately clear if Pruitt would seek to issue a new rule without congressional approval, which Republicans had criticized the Obama administration for doing. Pruitt's rule wouldn't become final for months, and is then highly likely to face a raft of legal challenges.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was among those who said they will sue.

"The Trump Administration's persistent and indefensible denial of climate change — and their continued assault on actions essential to stemming its increasing devastation — is reprehensible, and I will use every available legal tool to fight their dangerous agenda," said Schneiderman, a Democrat.

For Pruitt, getting rid of the Clean Power Plan will mark the culmination of a long fight he began as the elected attorney general of Oklahoma. Pruitt was among about two dozen attorney generals who sued to stop Obama's 2014 push to limit carbon emissions, stymieing the limits from ever taking effect.

So, you’re admitting Congress tried to pass a law, which is what they are Constitutionally the ones to do, and when they failed, Obama took it upon himself to write law. Got it. That’s really Constitutional.

Go back to DU.

No, SCOTUS said EPA had the authority.

If you are interested in learning more, the actual case was Massachusetts vs EPA.

There have been 3 SCOTUS decisions on CO2, plus several by appeals courts.

So, you realize who actually CONTROLS the EPA, correct? That would be the...... anyone?, anyone?, Bueller?, Bueller? THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH!!! Wow. So, Trump gets to make the rules as to what the EPA does.

Ben, you’re nothing but a Truth Denier. Glad you so easily walked into the trap. You know, you can’t go say Trump doesn’t have the right to do something and then it can’t go back to Congress so, the only one in charge is actually Trump. You are intellectually incapable of defending your positions. Ever. Because your positions are all based on lies.

LOL! That’s what I said in #30: Trump doesn’t approval from Congress.

So, the President can do what the President is allowed to do. Great. Case closed. So, since he’s allowed to do it, then why are you leftists complaining that he did it? Amazing your stupidity.

On some things, but he has to worry about the courts and the congress controls the money. In fact that is one of Trumps major problems.

Congress is ignoring Trumps effort to cut EPA budget and appropriating more than he wants.

So, the Enviro-cultists are whining that Trump is doing the job he’s supposed to be doing. I see.

I don't think whining is an accurate word.

Defying is accurate.

Some, such as China, are capitalizing in that they think trumps position has opened the door for them to take advantage and enhance their position with Europe.

Whining is the perfect word. Defying isn’t accurate. It’s you showing how stupid you can be.

You act as if withdrawing from the Paris Accords (The Punish the USA Accords) has halted ANY production of alternative energy solutions from the US. You’re wrong. And you know it. China isn’t capitalizing on that, but instead, they’re capitalizing on their cheap slave labor.

But, you don’t care about that. All you care about is making Trump look bad. That’s all your side EVER cares about. Making the opposition look bad so maybe you’ll win people over to your disgusting side. Go away coward. You can’t answer any questions posed, and use nothing but insults and derision.

Coward. Refuse to answer anything, and you’ll just be called out for the coward you are.
