Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock calculated where to shoot to kill maximum number of people
The Washington Examiner ^ | October 7, 2017 | Kimberly Leonard

Posted on 10/07/2017 4:36:07 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Police found a note in the hotel room of Stephen Paddock, the gunman behind the mass shooting in Las Vegas, that had hand-written calculations about where he needed to aim to kill as many people as possible.

In an interview that will be aired Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes," Officer Dave Newton from the Las Vegas Police Department's K-9 unit said he noticed a note on the shooter's bedside table after officers entered the room. The note was next to one of the windows that Paddock smashed with a hammer to clear an opening to fire into the crowd from his 32nd-floor hotel suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

"I could see on it he had written the distance, the elevation he was on, the drop of what his bullet was gonna be for for the crowd," Newton said. "So he had had that written down and figured out so he would know where to shoot to hit his targets from there."

Using semi-automatic rifles that he modified with a "bump stop" to increase their rate of fire, Paddock on Oct. 1 killed 58 people and injured nearly 500 others. Paddock, 64, killed himself with a gun before police entered the room to find his body and 47 weapons.

More than 20,000 people were attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival when Paddock began shooting into the crowd, which was about 400 yards away.

He only fired once at guard. Dang auto correct. Apparently no one saw the video link I posted last night. Granted it was late at night. Lol. You can actually count the shots fired at guard.

Why did he fire only one? Why not just kill him dead?

Yeah, I was wondering if he had a special rifle and ammo just for those shots.

And...(flight of fantasy)...was someone supposed to drive the car into the leaking fuel and then blow up the car, igniting the fuel? Maybe he did know a separate ignition was required.

I’m guessing that the single shots may have been at the tanks. Taking aimed shots at a far object. And only 2(?) or so holes in the tanks.

I believe the initial 2 or 3 shots were into the crowd. Some in the crowd went down and it took a few seconds for those nearby to figure out what had happened at which point the rush for exits began well before the first burst of automatic fire.

My guess is that he knew overheating was an issue. That’s why there were a lot of guns. I don’t know how many were fired.

The sounds on the videos seemed like 30-40 rounds at a time to me, but I have limited exposure to that type of firing.

You are assuming an accomplice would not have tried to leave until after Paddock finished shooting and therefore would have run into the security guard.

I don’t assume that.

Also we don’t know anything about how the fire door was supposedly blocked. The Sheriff made the comment the other day that it was not “welded” shut but otherwise didn’t elaborate.

If the fire door opens into the stairwell as one would think, then presumably it would need to have been blocked from WITHIN the stairwell. If that’s the case, then why did the security guard have difficulty entering floor 32 from the stairwell (if that’s still the version they’re peddling)?

If not, then how exactly was it blocked from within the corridor?

Missing rifle? Can you elaborate? - I haven’t heard about that.

That scenario does sound quite possible.

Could the single shot have been fired to take out the windows? Then the pause was to hit it with the little sledge?

Pretty sure the tank shots were near the end.

Right, not mad at casino’s. He is mad at the world in general. He made millions, but never was a boss in a corporation, or a businessman with employees, or a well known politician or a celebrity. So basically no one respected him. He also seems to have had no luck with ladies. His long time Filipino girl friend can not be called hot, by any stretch of imagination.

Now by killing 58 people and injuring 500, in his twisted & frustrated mind, he is telling the world, look how intelligent I am!

He could have shot the windows with his rifles.

repeat comment:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3592652/posts

...Prosecutors said that Al Bahnasawy also communicated with an undercover agent posing as an ISIS sympathizer about wanting to “shoot up concerts cuz they kill lots of people.”

Think about it. Looks like Paddock was identified as an agent by the peace-loving muzzies and the Mandalay Bay event was his death warrant. There were 59 victims.

I thought that possible too. He might have tried the hammer and didn’t get the glass to break right away. So he shot the windows.

OPEN QUESTION: Has anyone seen tracers on the videos or has anyone heard witnesses saying they saw tracers?

LOL If you think he was making millions at the casinos’ expense playing video poker I would love to sell you some Nevada beach front property.

.
Tannerite would do the job quite well, and could have been triggered by the first shot.

We already know he had tannerite.

Just ate a nice dinner. Spicy chili and half a loaf of bread. Only cost $2.50. Alright here is new timeline. Verifiable by video link I will post. Don't know who put video together, but you really cannot argue accuracy.

10:05 First shots outside hotel
10:09 Shots inside hotel (had to be guard)
10:09 Shots outside hotel continue
10:12 1st officers 31st floor
10:15 Shots stop.

Syncrhonized Video Entire Shooting

Yes, it’s more likely he was laundering millions.

He did report at least $5 million in income to the IRS in 2015. Most of the income was reported as gambling winnings.

It’s the easiest way to launder large amounts of money. It’s expensive, but all money laundering is expensive. You run the money through machines and cash out with clean money.

Then you report those cash out amounts as winnings.

I am going by what I hear on TV. His brother said he even made him wealthy. Paddock owned 3 houses, and went on 20 cruises in the Mediterranean. He bought 49 expensive rifles and loads of ammo. He drove expensive cars. He had no high paying job for decades. So where did he get all this money? May be he was a cat burglar, if not a casino gambler?

His airplanes indicate the possibility of arms/drugs/people smuggling.

Re people smuggling: Not everyone is poor and walking across. Some are big operators and need a private flight. Sometimes on a regular basis.

That I can believe. Point remains, he was wealthy, by hook or crook. That $5 million DECLARED income in 2015 is proof.

I am not going to argue about ballistic details.

My question is about motive.

We know the security guard was unarmed and by himself in a hallway on the 32nd floor. I’ve seen the set up of that hallway described as a perfect kill zone by folks who know about those things.

My question is this:

Why didn’t Paddock shoot until he knew the security guard was dead? According to the narrative we have been given, he was a homicidal nutcase.

It would appear that whoever shot Jesus Campos exercised restraint.

Why?
