North Korea 'Could Kill Almost Four Million People In Retaliatory Nuclear Attack'
The Telegraph ^ | 10/06/17 | Rob Crilly

A US military assault on North Korea could prompt a last gasp retaliatory nuclear attack by Pyongyang on Seoul and Japan killing as many as 3.8 million people, according to a new analysis of the destructive potential of Kim Jong-un arsenal.

Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that all options remain on the table – including the use of force – in dealing with the North Korean threat.

However, analysts say the US is hamstrung by Pyongyang’s growing weapons stockpile and the fact that major population centres lie well within its range.

A detailed analysis by 38 North, a programme at the US-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, has crunched the numbers, based on North Korea’s likely arsenal of as many as 25 weapons with possible yields of up to 250 kilotons, of the sort tested last month.

Using population density figures and blast radius estimates, Michael Zaguruk, calculated that a single detonation over Seoul could kill almost 800,000 people and over Tokyo would kill almost 700,000.

I'd be just as concerned about their Chemical and Biological arsenal if I lived in Seoul.

Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama all kicked the can on down the road.

They all three left Trump no workable solution rather than to go to war to stop North Korea’s missile and nuclear programs.

IMO, they all refused to address Iran’s actions either.

And Jimmy Carter was the brain trust that facilitated the departure of the Shah from Iran, because he was supposedly oppressive of his people.

He ushered in the Ayatollahs, who have been far more oppressive of Iran’s people than the Shah ever was.

We would have had an ally in Iran from the late 1970s until now, if Carter had not been elected.

Imagine the difference, Iran not dominating the region on the verge of nuclear weapons there.

So thanks ever so much Jimmy, Bill, George, and Barack. You guys certainly ____ed this nation over.

Now no matter what Trump does, he’ll be blamed while the three (four) stooges play patticake in the background.

Can this nut job hit the entire Continental US? or just a portion of it?

I don’t buy that he can hit the United States yet.. He might be able to find the Pacific with one of his Missiles but I don’t think he can put a Nuke on one yet..

Can some creative hacking f**k up their missile systems? Maybe we should get the Israelis involved.

And totally wipe out his country.

That's been done before. During the Korean War, the American Air Force repeatedly bombed North Korea and destroyed everything. Literally every town, port, building, bridges were bombed to smithereens. The Americans stopped bombing because there were no more structures left to bomb, and planes were dumping bombs into the ocean before returning to base. The Norks recovered (with Chinese and Russian help). The North Koreans will hide underground during bombings, and come out to rebuild again. Best bet is to kill their leaders and force a change in their culture - hard to do with the Chinese involved.

Not necessarily. They may have dispersed their nuclear armaments in places that cannot be hit from the air.

For that matter, all it takes is for them to smuggle a nuke aboard a third-nation-flagged freighter, steam it into a major US port or coastal city and set the nuke off. They don’t actually *need* rockets to deliver it. We might get all their rockets, but the actual nukes? Perhaps not so much.

Tell me again how he can’t stick a nuke on a ship and sail it near a major US coastal city or port.

One possibility that South Korea would have to keep in mind is the fleet of ancient biplanes. If sent on a preemptive first strike, it’s likely the first knowledge of such an attack would come with the nuke exploding over Seoul: “The fact that North Korea is now a nuclear nation and seems to have at least a workable miniaturized warhead design means these biplanes pose an even greater risk than ever before—they could also become a non-traditional nuclear delivery system. It is just the unorthodox play that Pyongyang could use to take out major military installations or critical capabilities without using a ballistic missile.“

A preemptive strike on North Korea would make their small nuclear arsenal null combined with strikes on their control and command structure make them a dysfunctional in relationship to a counter strike. They have massive artillery that would need to be taken out. This can be done quickly and efficiently. To do this would require tactical and strategic weapons. Yes, I mean nuclear.

Russia nor China will go to war over North Korea. China can hurt us grievously but we can totally destroy China as a functioning nation. China can not destroy us. Russia can destroy us as we can destroy them.

That is just the way it is.

If China and Russia realize we are ready to cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war they both realize it is in their interest to restrain North Korea.

When Trump said, “this is the lull before the storm” he was not talking to North Korea. He was talking to China and Russia. In effect he was saying, “get little Kim under control before bad things happen for all of us.”

China and Russia have the ability to tell Kim what to do. Kim is their punk.

Kim went from small fission weapons to a 250 kiloton thermonuclear weapon in a very short period of time. This is not possible without help from China or Russia or perhaps Pakistan. China stole our most advanced designs of nuclear weapons during the Clinton administration. China assisted Pakistan in their nuclear weapons program.

China is the key to peace or war. If it is war it is better today than ten years down the road. I hope the road leads to peace.

ps
That crazy bastard Kim may sell thermonuclear weapons to Iran and they are bat crap crazy. He must be stopped now.

Most inspections take place at the dock or in the harbor, not at sea. Once it’s in the harbor is too late.
