Headline only. Sources in DC confirm he sent resignation letter to Ryan today. Yesterday he announced he will not run again. Today he quit.

On September 6, 2017, Murphy publicly admitted to having conducted an extramarital affair with forensic psychologist Shannon Edwards, after a judge upheld a subpoena for Murphy to be deposed in the divorce proceedings by Edwards' husband Dr. Jesse Sally, who contended that Murphy's testimony would be relevant to Edwards' alimony request.

A report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says that Edwards wrote Murphy "you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance...when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child...". To which Murphy replied, "I get what you say ..."

Good riddance to this hypocrite. He can run as a Democrat in the next election cycle.

I think the person being referred to was Saul David Alinsky, and just spelled ALANSKIED wrong. Instead it should have been Alinskied.

Honestly these idiots that do these types of things need to take a few seconds to think!

If you don’t keep it in your pants and you’re a well known politician, someone will find out.

If you urge actions by others that goes against your public stances, someone will find out.

Get a clue! Keep it zipped up or keep your skirt on and life a moral life. Problem solved.

It said he’s pro-life. That means he’s not a member of the Abortion Party.

I don’t agree that he’s worse than a pro-abort. He did some good things while in Congress, including voting pro-life.

Everyone who votes for a pro-abort is going to Hell, while the people who vote for a pro-life hypocrite will not go to Hell for that vote.

Franco Harris lives in Pittsburgh (city proper). Besides, he’s a liberal Democrat.

Murphy represented Mt. Lebanon, wealthy south Pittsburgh suburbs.

I know Rocky Blier lives in Mt. Lebanon. But Congress for him would probably be a step down.

“Why? Cause Republicans have standards. Rats have none. Rats have none.”

Just did a quick search to see what ole Barney Frank has been up to. Now that’s a litany of sleaze.

Agree totally.

And I'll add to that ... what you think their "beliefs" are don't amount to jack. It simply doesn't matter what their beliefs are. Their "beliefs" are what Washington tell them they are.

When they get to Washington they are told how it's going to be. They may throw a bone to their constituents from time to time, just to keep them hopeful that "their guy" is in office, but their campaign donors and the System is who tells them when to jump and how high.

I'm wondering how many election cycles and the resulting disappointment in who you thought would change things it's going to take before people get that Republicans and Democrats are on the same side, which is the Government Industry.

Not running again? Good. Resigning and creating an unnecessary special election? I could do without that. He could deal with the embarrassment for a year and save the taxpayers some money.

Shouldn’t have troubling holding it but it’s an opportunity for the scumbags, I’d just as soon not give them any, or leave a seat vacant for months when there could be close votes.

State Senator Guy Reschenthaler (R) is the early frontrunner.

Alas, it looks like the district just misses Mon City. I was thinking of Diana (Irey) Vaughn.

“I’m wondering how many election cycles and the resulting disappointment in who you thought would change things it’s going to take before people get that Republicans and Democrats are on the same side, which is the Government Industry.”

But that leaves open the question, what are we, the people who claim to be their bosses, to do to fix this so our will will be done? Do we simply keep accepting this dysfunctional and corrupt system or are there changes we can make to it that restore the people as the sovereigns?
