Las Vegas sheriff: Mass killer led a 'secret life' before attack
Fox News ^ | Oct. 05, 2017

The Las Vegas gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history spent decades stockpiling guns and living a “secret life” that investigators may never be able to fully understand, police say.

Clark County, Nev., Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Wednesday that it was only logical to “make the assumption” that Stephen Paddock had “some help at some point” in pulling off Sunday's massacre.

As evidence, Lombardo pointed to gunman Paddock’s huge arsenal, explosive materials found in his car and his meticulous planning.

“What we know is Stephen Paddock is a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and living a secret life, much of which will never be fully understood,” the sheriff said.

Authorities also revealed that they believe Paddock had an escape plan, even though he turned the gun on himself as police closed in on his luxury suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Analyzing Paddock's computer, cellphone and other electronic devices, Investigators have found no obvious ideological motive, no clear connection to extremists or activist groups or outward display of mental illness, The Associated Press reported.

Lombardo said Paddock had 1,600 rounds of ammunition and several containers of an explosive commonly used in target shooting that totaled 50 pounds in his car. But it wasn't clear what, if anything, Paddock planned with the explosives, he said.

“the extra firepower was for his team of shooters who parachuted out the windows before the police arrived? “

That’s funny right there

Decades “stockpiling” guns? Seems like his hardware was pretty normal until the past year.

I’ve been thinking about that from day one.

As many profilers have stated, you only mass murder strangers from a distance for two reasons: Notoriety or a Cause.

Notoriety is a young man’s game. Older folks have established their identity and don’t need some blaze of glory to give their death meaning. That leaves a cause.

I have wondered over and over again why a man with his means didn’t simply apply for his FFL and buy actual automatic weapons. I’ve wondered why he didn’t just load up his plane with fuel and crash it into the crowd.

The only thing I can think of is that he wanted to make a statement...For his cause. “Look what I was able to do entirely within the law! ANYONE can do this.”

That would explain why he brought way more guns to the room than he needed to. It would explain the mass purchase of 30 additional firearms over the last year.

Everything he did seems designed to highlight a perceived weak spot in 2nd Amendment arguments. He passed background checks, he purchased all weapons and ammo legally, he made a point of using a “bump stock” which probably ultimately lowered the death toll as if to put a novelty shooting item into the headlines.

That said, I suspect law enforcement knows a lot more than they’re sharing and that motive will shake out before this is over. Seeing a lot of information floating around that hasn’t been corroborated by the police yet, particularly in the British press.

the point?

What if he was selling the bump stocks and guns?

Picked wrong customer.

Now, this is pure speculation. But videos of the shooting should dispel whether or not it’s a possibility.

The hotel footage is ‘gone’

Casinos have so many cameras that they can tell when someone palms a chip.

IOW, this was not a one-man job.

several containers of an explosive commonly used in target shooting that totaled 50 pounds in his car.

Tannerite, not ammonium nitrate as earlier reported.

What would be the point of the shooter bringing that many guns to his room? Would be impossible for him to use that many rifles.

The sheriff said some of them were jammed. He probably dropped guns as they jammed and grabbed another. Also, he tried to blow up fuel tanks with long-range shots, which would indicate he needed a high-end scoped rifle.

I think the point of the number of weapons was if the barrels or gas tube fittings melted down, he could switch weapons. If a rifle jammed, he could switch weapons. Perhaps even if the first few got hot, he could switch weapons and give them time to cool before they melted. If the audience just stayed there and didn’t figure out they should run, he could kill a lot of people and be famous.

It’s rather pathetic that he had such low expectations from his life, but I think he saw all those spares as a chance to rack up a large number of kills, almost like a video game score. Pistols might even have been for a getaway, if he ran out of ammo or targets and no one was outside his door. I wonder if he had a second room in the hotel, under a different name.

“How could she know or participate in anything if she wasn’t aware of his ‘secret life’?”....

I highly doubt she DIDN’T know. She supposedly went with him to purchase a number of those guns. It is a great possibility she is lying and, like many of those connected to people like Hitlary, she too may wind up DEAD in the not too distant future. Tin hat? Time will tell.

Your forgetting that they replaced said windows while parachuting out... or used a phase disruptor to transport through the windows.

I suspect the one killer left behind replaced the windows after the rest of his team parachuted out. He drew the short straw, so he had to stay and cover for them. [Sarcasm? You decide.]

“So having 43 guns, 1600 rounds of ammunition and some Tannerite means he had a secret suspicious life? The brush is painting too broadly and looks like it can be spun to cover anyone with a firearms collection.”

The statement you made is true, but I think there is more to it than that. For example, I myself have several types firearms with ammunition to match. Also Tannerite targets. Anyone who knows me at all know I like shooting sports and that I do own several firearms. No big deal. However I have seen statements made by others that supposedly knew him that he wasn't “into guns”. Obviously false.

Also there doesn't seem to be any of his neighbors in the community where he did live for some time that even really met him. Supposedly even the garbage was put out to the curb before the neighbors were out of bed. One neighbor made a comment that it was as is nobody actually lived in the shooters residence, saying something like he wished the guy were at least “grouchy or something”, just to let him know there was somebody there. As if the shooter had no personality whatsoever.

Either a total psychotic, or possibly someones sleeper agent. And yes, I know the latter is a bit paranoid.

What, you kidding me.!! A guy walking around with a pussy hat on his head and carrying a homo sign is NOT an indication of mental illness..??? We live in strange times....

You are absolutely correct. The FBI is totally useless. I trust the Las Vegas Police ten times more then I trust the “Obama/Clinton” traitor/turncoat FBI. This case will end one of two ways.

Stephen Paddock was with ISIS...all the way or, he is a “Extreme, Left-Wing Obama/Clinton Hateful, anti-Trump Democrat. Cute, but most evil fellow,.....sets up a fake location for a murder slaughter and, then shifts gears to the real slaughter, of Trump supporters, outside the Mandalay Bay. You would think the FBI would get it, but, they are more interested in covering up for their Obama, Comey, Mueller, hate Trump buddies and cohorts.

We, the people will never get the real true story of this slaughter of American innocents from the FBI. The FBI and Democrat Party could care less about these poor folks, their fellow citizens. Sad days for the American Republic!!! The Statue of Liberty is crying non-stop!!!
