Good question. The suite's entrance is at the tail end of the corridor, right next to the stair well. It could be the buyers fired down the hall from the stairwell (which means the cops were coming from the elevators or other stairwells. The cops probably thought there was an active shooter in the room. I'm just not buying that this guy did this yet.
Apparently the security guard on the 32nd floor was shot some time before the police arrived and broke down the door.
