A public records search of Clark County Court cases revealed that Paddock filed a lawsuit against the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and resort. Tecords show he was suing for “Negligence – Premises Liability.”
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Paddock sued the casino after he fell. Paddock claimed he “slipped and fell on an obstruction on the floor” and was injured because of the “dangerous condition.”
According to the records, the lawsuit was filed in September 2012. It was dismissed with prejudice on October 3, 2014. The two sides reached a settlement paid through arbitration.

Interesting but they did reach a settlement, and he did get money from them. Not sure this would be motivation because of a fall. Unless it left him with some permanent disability like a bad back and his resentment built up, but still seems like a reach for a motive.
I just read the gf was once married to moveon activist Geary Danley. There are early reports identifying the shooter as Danley. Curiouser and curiouser.
That casino trip/fall/sue routine is tried by Seth Green and some other millenial jackass in the movie “Rat Race” at the Bellagio. Gloria Allred gets involved, briefly.

Most rip and falls are very minor injuries.
The elderly are at the greatest risk for serious injury, but this guy wasn’t old enough for that.
Probably because the room was reserved in her name.
He was in his 60’s. My late wife was very frail before she passed away at 62.

“Something that everyone needs to realize is that there are cameras on the grounds. From when you drive into the casino, the eye in the sky is paying attention,” she noted.
“Mandalay Bay was sold out. This was really, really well-planned. This is premeditated,” Jones declared. “Sold out weeks in advance – he knew which room he wanted, he knew what angle, all of the above, because there’s no way he just got that room last-minute.”
“From what I’m gathering, there was a certain amount of ammo, a certain amount of guns in there. He had two platforms, apparently. The police found him dead when they came into the room. He had cameras set up knowing when the police would arrive. He methodically thought this out,” she said.
