Not necessarily. He’s firing into a large crowd. All he needs is the ability to put lots of rounds down range quickly.
Yep. Large and tightly packed.
Still, I’m having difficulty with the idea he planned, paid for and carried this out alone. I haven’t read enough about him yet to know if he might be capable of the strategic planning. Plus, remaining focused throughout the weeks/days leading up to it. This isn’t the movies. Booze or xanax might help some, but can’t overdo either.
It’s just so....
I wasn’t implying he was a practiced long range shooter. But he knew enough to stage everything, have multiple platforms loaded for use, and set up a pretty decent snipers nest. So, yes all you need is the ability to put lots of lead down range, but he thought this out like a pro. Clearly knew how to load and operate his arsenal. A lone wolf could do this, or he could have had help. Impossible to say with what we know at this time.
I have stayed at Vegas hotels while training at Front Sight out west of Vegas on numerous occasions. Its no issue to bring cased guns, ammo, etc into and out of a hotel room. I did so every morning and evening going to and from the range.
Change the scenario and motive, and he could have carried up case after case over the several days he was there. Put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door to keep maids out. All very calculated.
