Report: Middle East Refugees to Begin Arriving to U.S. from Australia

The first group of 1,250 mostly male Middle Eastern refugees is expected to soon arrive in the United States from Australia. The transfer of refugees comes after President Trump failed to shutter an Obama-era deal that could bring tens of thousands of the refugees’ family members to the U.S. in years to come. President Barack Obama signed the Australian-U.S. refugee deal during his last months in office — promising to take 1,250 Middle Eastern refugees off Australia’s hands.

The refugees are being held in detention centers on Manus Island and Nauru Island. Despite Trump’s original statement calling the deal “a dumb deal,” the president has now broken two long-promised campaign pledges: Throwing out deals that don’t benefit Americans and stopping the flow of foreign refugees.

According to NPR, roughly 50 foreign refugees are now on their way to the U.S. The other 1,200 are expected to follow soon after.

While the U.S. will have to resettle the 1,250 refugees across communities, Americans will see no benefits to the deal. In exchange for resettling the refugees, roughly 50-60 Central Americans who are currently residing in Costa Rica, will be resettled in Australia.

You were prescient. Yesterday I read an article saying that many of them have mental problems. Some are rapists, sexual predators, and pedophiles. Did someone empty a jail and send them out as migrants? And why are we not sending them back? Ugh.

Wow, had not seen that article. Was it on FR?

Sadly, we will probably have some sort of “incident” like Kate Steinle that will remind the American public what a bad decision it was. Ditto the “Ugh!”

Give the pilots some parachutes and ditch the plane over the ocean.

Here’s another lovely article. Some set fire to the detention center. These guys have a history of rioting and violence. No wonder Australia wanted to be rid of them. Now they will be our problem. I just hope they won’t gravitate to California. We have enough criminal types here.
