If the USA is so racist, why are Africans trying so hard to get in? Why do African immigrants succed where native Americsn blacks fail? One reason — hire an African, and you get a stable worker; hire native American black and you all too often get a non-worker with an axe to grind.

After being laid off 5 years ago at the age of 55, and encountering difficulty reentering the workforce in the field I worked in, I am making a second career doing something I have done part-time for over 30 years — teaching English as a Second Language. I am also an Orthodox Christian and a member of a parish that is loaded with immigrants. Between the two, over the years, I have come to know thousands of people who made a conscious decision to find freedom and opportunity in the country represented by that “piece of cloth.” One of my former students, from Ukraine, is an enthusiastic student of American history. He, along with plenty of others I have known, will make better Americans than a lot of people who just happened to be born here.

Whom in America does not have freedom and opportunity? I am so sick of people tearing down this country. Here, we have established the highest standard of living for the most people in any nation in history. And yes, everyone does have opportunity. And nut-jobs want to tear it down. When it descends to anarchy and chaos and another civil war, I guess they'll blame racism then too, while they're starving.
