State Sen. Chris McDaniel is inching closer to a 2018 bid against U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, spurred on in part by meetings this week with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.

“I’m still undecided, but that victory (by Roy Moore in Alabama) last night makes the 2018 race much more compelling,” McDaniel told Mississippi Today.

I’m out of the loop on the Wicker/PR connection, Doug. But by all means, if it will damage him I hope Breitbart and other sites will give it a wide audience.

Conservatives ought to find and run DINOs in ‘Rat primaries.

Why fight half a battle? :-)

“Conservatives ought to find and run DINOs in ‘Rat primaries.”

There aren’t any, and why waste the money.

Sheriff Clarke comes to mind.
However Rats are far more disciplined in their voting patterns then Conservatives. There are exceptions to that rule but its rare.

Pure fantasy to think that McDaniel can beat Wicker. His best chance is to make a move for Cochran’s seat.

Wicker is well liked by the average Mississippian. He is not ancient or doddering either; he won’t hide from debates with McDaniel or avoid public appearances like Cochran did. Unfortunately, a small but very visible fringe of McDaniel’s supporters are his biggest liability...they can’t seem to hide their crazy long enough not to tarnish their candidate: ie. the nursing home photos and after hours Hinds County Courthouse capers. The Dems knew about Cochran’s wife for many many years but had the sense to know that playing that card would only generate sympathy for Cochran as well as make them look grotesque for exploiting Mrs. Cochran’s misfortune.

From a strategic point of view going after Wicker is a waste of time and money and certain to fail.
