So, the swampdwellers have individually calculated that they have a better chance to be re-elected by refusing to repeal mulattocare than by repealing it. (This is not to dismiss the political shenanigans that are going on in the leader-less U.S. Senate -- that is, having just barely enough votes to reject the repeal so that the collective swampdwellers who have no intention of supporting the repeal of mulattocare can shout out during the primaries that they voted to repeal it ... expecting that the majority of their constituents aren't aware enough to catch on to what they are doing ... and it's much more often than not a good bet by the swampdwellers.)

Their political calculation regarding mulattocare — as are all of the swampdweller calculations — based on only one thing ... one thing only: What will help them get re-elected.

And, what do they have left in D.C. before the EOY...some 40 odd days of ‘work’??
No. They calculate running out the clock will further allow ‘em to cram as many sh!t-sandwiches down the collective throat of the People....budget, tax reform, illegals, the wall, etc.
Then they’ll cost through ‘18, using their typical ‘We need MORE (R)inos and YOUR $$$ to (do the things we promised, election after election)’.
What else would one run on if the work was *DONE*??
