Goodell on Sunday's actions: 'I'm proud of our league'

Players across the NFL protested and showed demonstrations of unity during the playing of the national anthem Sunday following remarks made over the weekend by President Donald Trump that team owners should fire players who fail to stand for the national anthem prior to games.

The player responses drew support from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who told The MMQB's Peter King he was "proud" of Sunday's actions.

"The way we reacted today, and this weekend, made me proud," Goodell said. "I'm proud of our league."

"I spent a lot of time listening to our players and coaches and owners over the past two days," Goodell said Sunday afternoon. "They really care about our league. I just think we need more understanding. I was trying to find out with the players and coaches, 'How are you feeling? What's going on in your locker rooms?' They were trying to figure out ways to respond."

Goodell told King he was not surprised by Sunday's demonstrations. "They reflected the frustration, the disappointment, of the players over the divisive rhetoric we heard [from Trump]."

Sounds much like the toddler who dropped a deposit in the toilet and now telling his mum, expecting to hear praise for his actions.

Back to basics RG. As any in the military would tell you, it’s not quite that easy.

Hillary Clinton:
I'm proud of my campaign. I'm embarrassed for women and minorities who didn't vote for me. Why didn't I win by 50 points?

Some people do not want to accept that many people disagree with them. People who disagree are WRONG and must be forced to see the truth.

Roger Goodell is the son of Charles E. Goodell, a “Republican” Senator from New York who was appointed by Rockefeller to take Bobby Kennedy’s seat in 1968 when he was killed. He was a far left liberal, just like his son. WF Buckley’s brother, James Buckley, ran on the independent Conservative ticket in Goodell’s first senate election, in 1970, and knocked the liberal Goodell out of office. Apparently, his ties to this boob got Goodell the younger his $ 40 million a year at the taxpayer supported NFL.

According to fox, former clinton spokesperson joe Lockhart is now the designated NFL spokesperson and fox said that this signals a hard line from NFL to the WH.

This might actually be an indication of something else more intriguing.

Lockhart was hired as the NFL spokesman in February 2016 -- which coincided exactly with the start of the primary season for the 2016 presidential election campaign. This makes me wonder if the whole Colin Kaepernick stage act and the silly orc tantrums on the sidelines was intended to be part of a political campaign all along.

This would explain why the NFL, its owners and its players are in a state of obvious confusion and disarray right now -- and clearly don't know how to deal with the situation they're facing.

They never expected Donald Trump to be in the White House.

“I spent a lot of time listening to our players and coaches and owners over the past two days,”

But did you listen to your fan base or your President?
You made a choice. Next we will see about the consequences.
