Back in April 2016, then-Bills coach Rex Ryan agreed to introduce then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally in Buffalo, a decision Ryan now regrets.
(Snip)
On Sunday Ryan, who now serves as a commentator for ESPN, responded:
"When you look at it, we all grew up in an NFL locker room," Ryan said on the set of "Sunday NFL Countdown," which included former players Randy Moss, Matt Hasselbeck, Charles Woodson and Anquan Boldin, and co-host Sam Ponder. "We don't have those issues, you know what I mean?
"Everyone's always been united. Yeah, the views are different but lemme tell you: I'm pissed off. I'll be honest with you. Because I supported Donald Trump. When he asked me to introduce him at a rally in Buffalo, I did that. But I'm reading these comments and it's appalling to me and I'm sure it's appalling to almost any citizen in our country. It should be.
"You know, calling our players SOBs and all that kind of stuff, that's not the men that I know. The men that I know in the locker room I'm proud of. I'm proud to be associated with those people. I apologized for being pissed off but guess what? That's it, because right away I'm associated with what Donald Trump stands for and all that because I introduced him. I never signed up for that, I never wanted that. That doesn't mean I support 100 percent of the things he says."

Bzzztttt! Wrong!
Obviously Rex wants to fit in at ESPN, but based on the support Trump has received from his base, based on the boos that rained down on the field, and based on the fact that fans of teams are burning their gear, I'd say every American isn't "appalled." I honestly think that Rex thought everyone would be outraged at Trump and so he's trying to distance himself. He judged it wrong. There are people who are "appalled" for the exact opposite reason.
Go suck a toe.
Rex is about to experience a very difficult week if I sense the mood of the country correctly. I wandered into Yahoo yesterday expecting to see the usual liberal apologia and just about had my eyebrows scorched by one of the Comments sections. It isn’t just Trump supporters, these guys have been wandering in a minefield the last few months and finally stepped on one.
I think Rex is reading the wrong comments. But that's all right.
But the asshat totally supports pissing on the Military, Flag, Country.
I used to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon with football because it wasn’t all-consumed with politics. They’ve now screwed this up. Same applies to ESPN as it provided sports news and insights but they decided they needed to go down the politics road so that’s hosed for me now as entertainment. So far, they haven’t screwed up college football so I still enjoy the “Gameday” program.
Rex’s dad played college ball at my alma mater, Oklahoma State. Rex’s twin brother, Rob, had a stint as the defensive coordinator there. The bright lights & big city appear to have taken them away from their Okie roots. Rex still has dreams of getting another coaching stint so he’s trying to stay marketable. As for me, I’ve moved past the whole thing. It’s even made going to a Super Bowl party an event I can pass on this season.
Jumping on a bandwagon just as the wheels are falling off.
Rex you big, fat cuck. Shut your cowardly face hole.
It's not "appalling" to me you schmuck. In fact, I say hell yeah! It's high time that a real President says what needs to be said even if it is in a 'tweet'.
Now go schmuck yourself schmuck.
Ryan has obviously spent too much time in the locker room. He doesn’t recognize his fans any more. These jerks fail to understand that President Trump is saying what many of us are saying but we have no public voice. President Trump, again, is saying what many us are are thinking and using his podium to do so. God Bless America and God Bless President Trump!!!
If all those households don’t buy those hundreds of dollars worth of beer, pop, snacks, meats and cheeses for the superbowl those companies will land like a ton of bricks on the NFL. That’s probably a bigger “holiday” than Valentines these days.
Wonder how they [NFL] will promote the multi-million dollar commercials? In the months ahead, there will be plenty of time for corporations to review their past media buys and the ROI in light of the latest events.
Boy , are they wrong lol
Yeah, you do...
Lol. You can say that again.
Oh yeah, Rex?
Well guess what?
I'm pissed off too.
I'm pissed off that I can't go walk in a park without seeing paint splattered on historical statues and monuments.
I'm pissed off that I can't see a movie or hear a popular song without having counter cultural crap shoved in my face.
And I'm pissed off that the football games I loved to watch on Saturday and Sunday (albeit 20+ years ago) have over those past two decades been co-opted into vehicles for socio-political-psycho-babble crap spouted by millionaire brats who haven't had one tenth the life (and death) experiences I've had with *REAL* oppression, *REAL* injustice and *REAL* wars with *REAL* bad guys.
And I'm pissed off at seeing the few players who espouse the values I share, like Tebow, Tillman, Villnueva being treated as if they are some sort of freaks while the scumbags in the league get all the accolades.
And I'm pissed off at fair weather friends like you that are glad to ride the gravy train with President Trump when things look good but bail out the first time he says something that might get you disinvited to a cocktail party.
Go sit on a drill, Rex.
Now at least he doesn’t have to consider the alternative.
Ryan is a great example of a idiot promoted over there abilities .
This clown was arrested in a bar in Nashville TN .
The NFL is dead .
For too long termites have been gnawing at America’s foundation and it looks like President Trump is also our own pest control.
You do not know how deep the rot is until you pull the veneer off and expose it to the sunshine.
Thank you Mr. President for exposing those that in reality hate our nation and willing to see it fail as long as they get a good paycheck.
Super Bowl:
I’ll miss the
Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales more than the ‘game’ itself. The NFL has not been seen in such a shining light of late.
The ads were done in such a way as to PRETEND GOD AND COUNTRY first. Now, the drapes are drawn back and the truth has been seen. Not even the beauty of the animals and countryside will matter. It’s all about THEM and their cash cow.
