Backlash As Trump Slams NFL Players’ Protests, NBA’s Stephen Curry (Kraft turns against Trump)
NBC News ^ | 9/24/2017 | Phil Helsel

President Donald Trump sparked a backlash from some of the biggest names in professional sports over the weekend after he attacked football players who refuse to stand during the national anthem in protest and rescinded a White House invitation to the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry.

On Sunday, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, a supporter and donor who gave the president his Super Bowl ring, released a statement criticizing Trump's comments and backing players to use their platform in order to draw attention to political issues.

"I am deeply disappointed by the tone of the comments made by the president on Friday," Kraft said in a written statement. "There is no greater unifier in this country than sports, and unfortunately, nothing more divisive than politics."

"Our players are intelligent, thoughtful and care deeply about our community and I support their right to peacefully affect social change and raise awareness in a manner that they feel is most impactful."

Kraft's statement came shortly after Trump doubled down on his stance, tweeting early Sunday, that if "NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!"

Looks like the memo has gone out from Commisar Goodell to NFL owners about respecting diversity blah, blah blah. Kraft is a scumbag too. Turned pretty quickly on his friend Trump. As for my Giants, I’m now on a season long boycott against them. It makes it easier that they are terrible, but the Maras turned on Trump too and thus they can go screw. I’ve had it with all of them. Bye bye NFL.

This whole thing just shows total ignorance and disrespect to a country that allows these guys to become millionaires for playing a game...What kind of life would they be leading if they were a part of any other country??

“Backlash” and “divisive”?

When Obama weighed in he was “decisive” and “introducing a conversation.”

The hypocrisy here is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

Of course the media is pushing this issue and glorifying the disrespect aimed at all who have served and sacrificed by using these uneducated dupes as their pawns in order to eventually end the playing of our anthem and displaying of our flag at all sporting events. That is obvious.

But the fact that most, if not all of these morons voted for and gave money to Hillary Clinton which means they are advocates for breaking the law is being ignored.

These owners aren't politicians, they are just trying to protect their business. Unfortunately, they haven't figured out how to do that for over a year now as this disrespecting the USA started on Obama's clock. It is just convenient for them to point to the truth teller to find cause. Now the protests will grow because the owners have spoken out against Trump and the players will follow with a larger and larger contingent disrespecting the USA just to get a jab in at Trump.

From Trump's end, there is plenty of china left in the shop, and the bull has only just started his bucking.

Uh, Robert, will you take another look at your own statement please. Is not the issue that some of your players are injecting the latter into the former, AND THAT IS WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT?? Hmmmm?

Trump got mega likes on his NFL tweets, like 180K. People like what he’s saying about the disrespectful NFL players.

What do you expect from a league that charges the taxpayers to host gametime military honors.

So, the NFL owners are also siding against We, the People? I had been sad that football was under attack from so many sides. Now I no longer care. These ingrates are killing the cash cow. Let it die sooner rather than later.

The NFL died today of a self administered wound .

Al those poor clueless millionaires owners and smug players will be shocked how quickly there world disappeared .

People will adapt to new habits and routines quickly .

We stopped watching about decades ago after one of the millionaire walkouts .

Sundays are spent fishing or boating or on the beach .

We gave up TV long time ago too .

NFL is a stupid waster of money and time .

If the NFL owners are trying to protect their business by siding with the kneeling players, they are not living in the real world. Some will be bankrupt in a year. I think that’s just fine.

Our players are intelligent, thoughtful and care deeply about our community

Yes, they are. Yes, that's right. For about 2% of them. The other 98% can't read cursive, only care about their next hit... of coke and can't balance their multimillion dollar checkbooks. It's called the National Felon League for a reason, Kraft, and you better find a way to change that.

These people are disrespecting a country that gave them the opportunity to become millionaires...A country that people all around the world will risk their lives to get INTO just to earn a small wage and live free...
