Somewhat like the LIBS in California were against the internment camps in WWII as it forced them to get new gardeners.

MAYBE that is when the influx of border crossings started??

Really don’t mean to make light of a tragic situation and yes, PDT is being the ‘bigger man’ by sending aid to Mexico.

Before WWII, US agriculture was a labor intensive operation. All the hired hands and farmer’s sons were drafted and Mexicans were legally allowed to help farm. When they were became available, German prisoners of war were also used. After the war, much of agriculture was rapidly mechanism, but Mexicans (legal? and illegal) still came for labor intensive applications.
