Seems that the last nuclear test was very close to a very large active vulvano. (It reacted shortly after the test explosion). With a few prayers “Mother Nature”. May take the NORKs out!

Makes more sense to blow up a rocket when lil Kim puts it on the launch pad. Especially if we intend to blow it up after it is in flight. He tees one up-we blow one up.

This is a bad idea. Shooting down a missile that is not targeting friendly territory would reveal that we have the ability. If we have the ability, there has been no offical talk of it. Just like the F-117 Nighthawk was not acknowledged before a big press conference. I don't think we would use it until it was absolutely certian the DPRK was firing at us or a ally.

The prior launches this past few weeks showed they used mobile launchers, not a fixed pad. You would have to see the launcher setting up to take it out or just target any mobile launcher. Pretty hard to do with satellite imaging. By the time they get the picture the launcher could have moved. Not sure how long from parking a launcher to actual launch. If solid fuel propelled would be pretty fast, liquid fueled would take longer unless they're foolish enough to transport a fully liquid fueled ICBM.

That is a 14 year old article which states that any existing particle accelerator would have to be 1000 kilometres wide. That was 14 years ago and technology has become increasingly smaller so who knows? It might be feasible. I’m sure someone somewhere is working on it.

Are ICBM’s fired from Mobil launchers
To: SeekAndFind
.
We have the capability to disable their missiles in the silo without firing a single shot.

ICBMs with nuclear payloads can be tracked from orbital scans.

Could always blow it up on the launching pad. Still, I prefer that idea of the Japanese Parliament debating a declaration of war against North Korea.
A Japanese invasion of mainland Asia would not go over well with the Koreans or the Chinese. Too much bad history. Just having such a debate might get China to put some pressure on North Korea.

It would be better to take out one on the launch pad with a Tomahawk.
That would put a kink in Rocket Boy's plans without letting the world see exactly what our defence systems can do.

“I think that it makes more sense to destroy the N.K. missile on the launch pad.”
Most NK missiles are launched from mobile platforms, not so easy to neutralize.

Shoot it down 18-inches over the launch pad.
Success is guaranteed. We get the missile or we get the missile and the entire launch pad or we get the entire launch pad and rocket-man's observation facility.
Win-win...

Cut off the head of the snake. That would only require one cruise missile.
Follow it with a leaflet drop explaining they are now a free people, and that the pallets being dropped contain food for their families.

Target practice is never a waste of ammo. Every time we attempt to shoot down a target, the US forces gain valuable experience, leading to improved missiles.
I do agree that a miss, especially the first time against an NK missile, would be a very bad thing, but the first intercept attempt is just a matter of time, & it would be far better to miss a “dud” NK missile than a nuclear tipped one.
