Young was born Canadian so don’t be too harsh on him.
Young sung that song 10 years too late. It had lost its bravado.
When the Confederate flag controversy was created, Southern stars that previously used the flag were told to get in line of be cast out.
Tom Petty was one of them. He publically disavowed the Confederate flag. He insulted it and its history, all to save his income stream.
Skynyrd was another. They were told they would get no more bookings if they did not come out and publicly disavow the flag.
So they did. To protect their income stream.
And now, like Petty, they are dead to me.
