A new UN report on the state of broadband says 1.5 billion more people use the internet today than in 2010, but 52% of the world's population still lacks access. Of people without internet, 62% live in Asia and the Pacific Islands, and 18% in Africa.
"Men outnumber women in terms of Internet usage in all regions of the world." China has the biggest internet market, with 700 million users. The global average internet speed is 7.2 megabits per second. South Korea has the fastest internet at 28.6 Mbps. To compare, Nigeria has one of the slowest speeds with 1.5 Mbps.
Why it matters: The global "digital divide" risks becoming a "digital chasm" as the poorest nations continue to be disconnected from the rest of the world, the report says.

Let me be the first to say: Women, children and people of color hardest hit.
“Get those head-hunters and neck choppers on the Internet! Now! It’s our first priority!”
Nigeria has one of the slowest speeds with 1.5 Mbps. You would think those princes could get better internet.
All I see is a bunch of internet arriving, and suddenly you find out that you had some dear uncle who passed on in Nigeria....who left you $100,000 but you need to wire $10,000 for the handling fee.
Because 48% of the world doesn’t feel like paying for their access.
They are the lucky ones....................

“We” (USA) gave the world the internet. If “they” can’t figure out how to make use of it, that is NOT OUR DAMNED PROBLEM.
Solution... raise taxes. That just happens to be the solution to all the world’s problems.. if I were a liberal..
Well, if they had internet access, they could learn to hack into our power grid and..................... Oh!
".....and the band played on...."
I’d say an even higher percentage don’t have cars. So what?
I’m not even going to wonder whose fault it will be when much of that 52% doesn’t give a flip about internet because they can’t read.
