Next wave of EPA science advisers could include those who question climate change
Washington Post ^ | September 18, 2017 | By Chris Mooney and Brady Dennis

People who have questioned aspects of mainstream climate research appear on a list of 132 possible candidates for positions on EPA’s influential Science Advisory Board, which the agency has opened for public comment until September 28.

One candidate believes more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will “confer great benefits upon future inhabitants of the globe” by driving plant growth. Another has said of the climate change debate that “scare tactics and junk science are used to secure lucrative government contracts.” Five candidates have challenged the Environmental Protection Agency’s own science on the warming of the planet in court.

But the inclusion of a handful of climate contrarians has caused early concern among environmental groups and some employees at the agency.

“We should be able to trust that those who serve the EPA are the all-stars in their fields and committed to public service,” said Michael Halpern, deputy director of the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. He said the upcoming round of appointments will test whether EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is “remotely interested” in independent scientific advice. “He already has a parade of lobbyists and advisers providing him with the perspectives from oil, gas, and chemical companies. The Science Advisory Board is a check on political influence and can help the agency determine whether the special interests are telling it straight.”

The agency also has begun taking steps to roll back Obama-era climate regulations, while President Trump has proposed deep cuts to climate research.

The EPA has already seen a controversy involving a separate advisory board, the Board of Scientific Counselors, where a number of researchers expecting to have their terms renewed were informed by the new administration that they would not be retained.

Nobody questions whether the climate changes, we know it does.
Ice ages happen.
Worry about the next one.

We could not produce enough CO2 to keep from freezing when the next one comes.

Remind me, again, what the two have to do with each other?

More winning.

From the get-go, Trump's policies have been clear; re-start the America economy based on plentiful and cheap (fossil) domestic energy sources. We are the only nation on this planet with both an advanced industrial economy and access to plentiful energy resources. The EPA is a highly partisan roadblock, that actually serves the interests of foreign powers. Seriously, who benefits the most from the United States refusing to use its own resources? The Chinese. The Saudis. You think they wouldn't support the enviro-nazis to make us economically dependent? If I were them, you bet I would. The enviro-nazis have access to limitless money to hire armies of lobbyists and lawyers. It's not because grandma sent the Sierra Club $10 because she saw a photo of a sad looking Polar Bear in her National Georgraphic magazine? That kind of juice comes from the people who have it, are making an investment, and expect a return.

Trump sees the obvious and is moving on it. Sort of makes you wonder why it hasn't been done before, doesn't it?

Perhaps the EPA should invite back the scientist that it forced into retirement for daring to point out that the climate data was crap, back during Lisa Jackson / Richard Windsor’s stint as administrator.

That's funny, coming from someone who refuses to listen to anyone that disagrees with his glow-bull warming BS.

It’s Global Warming.

They don’t get to change the name because it failed to appear.

Thank you for referencing that article Oldeconomybuyer. As usual, please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the corrupt feds the specific power to regulate environmental issues.

In fact, using wide language, a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had clarified the fed’s limited powers as follows.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

In other words, the EPA is based on state powers that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds have stolen from the states.

So with all due respect to the family and supporters of the late President Nixon, Nixon was wrong to sign the bills that led to the establishment of the EPA.

Patriots need to support Trump in working with the states to either amend the Constitution with an EPA amendment, or close down the EPA.

If all of these Global Warming do gooders really cared about the people, they would encourage Everyone on the Planet to consume and burn as much carbon based fuel as possible in an effort to stave off the Next Ice Age, which is Guaranteed and will kill all of us
