The election euphoria is gone for me. With the exception of the SCOTUS selection, not much really has changed.

Tax cuts on the rich, would put a massively larger amount of money into the private sector.

That would effectively double the potential for economic growth.

“The rich”, IMO would include tens of thousands of small businesses. They are the bread and butter of job creation.

The Left loves to attack this group. Trump should avoid it at all cost. It will defeat the attainment of the full potential of his goals.

Trying to sweeten up the Democrats never works.

Tax cuts for all. Or Tax cuts for none. I’m poor and I disagree with tax hikes for the rich. The more money and wealth that people have, the better it is for me.

Period.

Doesn’t the GOP have a majority?

Even considering making deals with them is a huge red flag.

I really really hate our tax code - it is unfair to those who pay, and it is not a good economic policy in terms of raising funds for the government.

I wish, but know it can never happen, that we repealed the 16th (and 17th) amendments and replaced it with a very simply consumption tax - not a VAT. My second choice would be a true flat tax - something like a standard deduction up to 20k or so, and 15% everything above that. No exemptions, no exceptions, no games and no loopholes for anything. What you do with your money after that is your business - give to charity, buy a house - up to you, but no tax adjustments for anything.

Of course, neither of these two options will ever happen.

Interesting take by Trump.

For me and our household, it will depend upon whom Trump, et al determine who is "rich.""

I know that the dim party determine pretty much any family working and earning a combined $100,000 to be "wealthy," no matter the size of their family, what part of the country they live in or how high their other taxes are.

Congress critters all get by without paying taxes, get to participate in insider trading (by family members, of course) yet pretend to belong to the "working class!"

A POX on all their houses!!!

So much for the American dream of "getting rich" one day. Progressive taxation only makes keeping the next dollar you earn much more difficult than the previous one, regardless of the amount of blood, sweat, and tears poured into the effort. That is not "The American Way".

Give the “rich” (whoever they are) a higher rate that they can pay voluntarily. There’s been a lot of rich liberals saying they want to pay more in taxes. Give them a award if they pay the higher rate. Liberals love awards.

He has always stated that the “rich” such as himself might pay more taxes during the campaign. Nothing new here. The question is what is the definition rich?

It is McConnell and Ryan’s fault. They have accomplished zip, zilch, nada; do not speak for most Republicans who vote; have made more comprises with the Dims than Trump is making (where are the spending cuts to Lib favored executive branch non-essential nonsense??); where is Obamacare repeal; where is funding and building the wall; why have hey allowed the Dims to hang up all Trumps nominations; where is the special prosecutors on Hillary, Lynch, Comey, IRS, ect., ect.???

If McConnell and Ryan are unhappy with Trump talking deals with the Dims, they need to either get off their butts or resign their leadership positions AND stay out of the House and Senate caucuses choosing new leaders. Either they change, radically, or its time that they be changed.

Trump is not a conservative but I backed him because he promised border security, a crackdown on illegals, and a conservative Supreme Court. He also promised to get rid of Obamacare and real tax reform. I guess I’m going to have to settle for one out of five (thank you for Gorsich).

Don’t forget, many, if not most, of the truly rich are FLAMING LEFTISTS. Trump won due to votes of people who can’t afford lobster dinners every night.

If the Dems and Trump can get a plan together to hit these people, the Dems will have a LOT MORE explaining to do at election time than the Republicans.

A tax hike on the rich can be very beneficial to our economy if done properly.

That is, right now the most profitable investments out there, available only to the rich, are much more like gambling than what we would think of as investments. So they should be taxed like gambling, such as some lucky individual who hit the jackpot in Vegas.

The *idea* here is to get the rich to move their investments to actual investments that help our economy, at a lower tax rate, and away from gambling.

This is a smart idea, and has long been used for things like tax free municipal bonds, because they work.

The Democrats really don’t care about raising revenues or tax policy or our economy, beyond “hurting the rich people we hate”. So they are the last people to consult about this.
