Dr. Williams identifies a major if not the major cause of our rogue government, but he misses the bigger result - not a “debt crisis” but a freedom crisis”. The Left, the cause of our rogue government and its disastrous results, loves to scream about the big debt as insurmountable.

But huge government debt is solvable as it has been in the past. The “insurmountable” mentality comes from those who cling to the idea of the eternal life of unconstitutional and wasteful government bureaucracies.

Yes, federal entitlements are all almost without exception unconstitutional. The Constitution, the creator of the federal government, does not delegate such entitlement power to the feds. This entitlement monster was created by the likes of deceitful Leftist politicians like FDR who by the steady steam of Lying Leftist demagoguery and a citizenship not willing to stand up against such lying power grabs have hijacked our Free Constitutional Republic.

Nevertheless, the answer to the debt and the bigger issue, our freedom, is solved by dismantling these noxious bureaucracies and the rest of the $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the federal government with its noxious and lying “entitlements”. Easily said, almost impossible to do, right? Well, America’s birth was also “impossible”. How could a bunch of rag-tag colonists defeat the greatest military power in the world? But by the Divine Providence of Almighty God, it happened and America was birthed.

Likewise, by the grace of God, we will once again recover our Free Constitutional Republic. Recovery and maintenance of freedom requires faith. We need, and I think we will get, a new spiritual awakening that will turn hearts to God once again and away from depending on man and his miserable government. We will once again be an INDEPENDENCE and free people.

It’s not primarily a “debt” crisis, it is primarily a constitutional crisis.

I agree. But, I'm not so convinced that we can will or pray ourselves out of it.

At least 50% of Americans want big government and like the current system. It's not *all* grifters and welfare cheats, there are a lot of people employed directly by the Govt. at all levels, and their are lots of private sector employees working for companies that feed off them.

There is the US Military, too. Per Wikipedia our active military is 1.2 million. Per the Constitution only the Navy is permitted to be a full-time outfit. How many patriotic military people would vote to end their own jobs, in the name of Constitutional Fidelity?

The Heritage Foundation writes on this:

Army Clause. The Congress shall have Power To ...raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years.... For most Americans after the Revolution, a standing army was one of the most dangerous threats to liberty.

So, even if you limit the "restoration team" to non-government dependent, not Democratic supporting Americans you have tremendous fracturing and difference of opinion, and a huge contingent that wants, at best, small changes only.

Even at Free Republic the last election was brutal. I know more than one long-time Freeper who left the site, at least temporarily, because they supported a candidate who was disfavored (this changed over time, too, obviously).

I just don't see the basis for some large groundswell of return to the Constitution, I see those of us who feel that was as being a marginal group, similar to the Libertarians.
