You are right in some ways. However, many people live in mobile homes or apartments or condos and those all have unique properties that make it impossible to shelter in place.

Agreed... For those people, I think we need to construct LOCAL wind shelters. It’s a different kind of planning required.

Maybe, we need to design and build “wind shelter” spots WITHIN homes?

I would suggest that the vast majority of those who can afford a wind shelter would not be living in mobile homes in the first place. For those with used mobile homes, the price of a wind shelter room (tornado room) is more than the value of their mobile home. Sad but true.

Seems like a reasonable assumption. It appears many of the mobile home parks have a community center. The ones I have seen are concrete block buildings, which look pretty sturdy for an emergency shelter.

Um.... yea, I know. For people in mobile homes, or houses not capable of withstanding the expected winds, I was suggesting a PUBLIC SHELTER that could withstand the wind.. Something like a school, or certified public building.
