Hundreds of EPA Workers Leave the Agency

Buyouts offered by the Trump administration to more than 1,200 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employees have prompted 400 people to leave their posts since the end of last month, The Wall Street Journal reports. This mass exit has resulted in a 2.5 percent cut in the agency’s staff, the report states, and if workers continue to take the buyouts, the EPA could be facing its smallest operating staff since the late 1980s.

The majority of the deals presented to employees consisted of buyouts or voluntary early retirement for eligible employees, according to an E&E News report from earlier this summer (July 17). The number of EPA employees offered either deal was expected to tally up to 1,227 workers for this summer, with the EPA’s Office of Research and Development hit the hardest by a potential loss of 183 workers. Those who choose to opt into the summer buyouts will have to do so by September 2 of this year, E&E reports.

"Sounds like they have a looming way to go"

Especially when you consider that most government employees work for the state and local govt. Including teachers but excluding military: feds employ 12%, states employ 24%, local govt employs 63%.

Consider the state enviro agency and every state has one. In the US the EPA sets the standards and each state determines how it will meet the standards and enforces the state regs.

A sizable portion of the EPA budget is granted back to the states based on how influential that state's delegation is(pork).

The real factor here is that the GOP likes to run against the EPA and the IRS and most republicans are too dumb to know it. Even tho the Ag Dept has the most employees nobody ever complains about it.

In addition to the federal, state and local workers there are at least an equal number of contractors working for the federal, state, and local governments.

Government funds are paying for millions, maybe billions, of pages of Phase I, Phase II and other environmental reports.

Environmental assessment has become a booming industry.

Of course, that does not include another industry—environmental remediation.

This swamp is wide and deep.

While cleaning up the environment is a good idea, the bureaucratic approach has turned it into a complete nightmare.

Government morphs everything into a hungry bureaucratic monster.

Buying them out is probably cheaper and faster than charging them.

This is what people who have never worked in or around the Federal bureauracracy never seem to understand. They think it's like the real world, where you can just call someone in to the boss' office and say "You're fired"! Nope.

The rules and regulations attached to hiring and firing practices make it nearly impossible to get rid of federales critters. It takes forever and costs lots and lots of money to actually get rid of someone. I knew a govie who had taped cardboard to the top of his cubicle so that the overhead lighting wouldn't disturb his sleeping. He'd arrive in the morning and nap all day at his desk. I was leading work on a contract that he had to approve, and whenever my team needed his sign-off, I had to go to his desk and wake him up. He'd stretch, log on to his workstation, and sign the form allowing us to continue working. Then he'd go back to sleep.

Thankfully, I'm no longer on that contract. I assume he's still there, napping peacefully until his retirement.

This is great news for the Swamp Drainers.

Eventually, maybe the rest of these Left-wing EPA climate change scammers will get disgusted and leave on their own too.

Then all Trump has to do is reassign Scott Pruitt to another position in his administration and close the doors to the agency.

We can only hope.

It might have been a better deal to, instead of offering to buy them out, offering to “laterally transfer” them to the toxic waste superfund clean-up branch”.

“You decided to stay with the EPA, so here is your mop and bucket. Hazmat suits, boots, gloves and respirators are on back order, so you should get them in a few weeks. They will be sent to you at your job site in the “glowing swamp o’ death”.

Thats exactly right. Evert American needs to understand the omncredibly horrid danger that the liberal left poses to America and its institutions.

Alinsky based fascism is rampant inside our government institutions, leaks, acts of malfeasance and non-feasance.

Lets hope they can be purged systematically.

If not, we will be subject to demographic warfare and criminal violence from their racial and ethnic, race mongering thugs.

They already have their white cannon fodder.

For greater clarity:

Read this article from whichi the quote was taken.

I think that American Thinker article is worth its own thread!

Even if it was written in 2009, it is pertinent, in fact, it may be MORE pertinent today than it was back in the day. After all, we now know how evil Ophonybama and his LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist/Communist/Moslem “posse” was! We are reminded of their evil ways almost daily!

Care to start the thread? Your post #30 could/should be the lead post.
