Hurricane Jose has now become an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane, threatening Caribbean islands already devastated by Hurricane Irma.
Jose now has top sustained winds of 150 mph as it moves toward the northern Leeward Islands at a speedy 18 mph.
A tropical storm watch has been issued for St. Thomas and St. John.

Hate to joke but, Jose might head up to DC and go after Trump.
Watch for Libs to wish for it.
I have no scientific basis for stating this of course except that it is well established that Libs suck ass.
Well it is President’s fault, you know.
Where did you "hear" that "theory"?
the theory is that warm water provides the energy for the storms.
The actual law in play is the law of thermodynamics and the conversion of energy.
But please - do enlighten me to your theories of hurricane development.
Photos are pretty ghastly.
I wonder what happens to little farms and gardens after they are flooded with sea water....
The seas have a lot of energy, no one storm can absorb that amount of power. Thank GOD.
With the islands getting wiped out every few years, it would be interesting to track the history of real estate prices against hurricanes.....
Perhaps, he means that the winds from the hurricane cause mixing of the deeper/colder water to the surface, lowering the sea surface temperature (fuel of the hurricane).
I looked at the track forecast for Jose. CONUS is not on its target. It’ll curve northeast and hit remotes parts of Canada.
Weather monitoring and communication is so much more available than the 1960’s.
I remember Dora in 1964. Husband overseas and I was a mother of a 2 yr. old son and a TWO WEEK old baby, living with mother-in-law on Tybee Island, Ga. My MIL called her sister to see if we could stay further inland with her. Her answer was ‘NO’!!!!! So we drove to a motel in Savannah and stayed overnight. We went back to Tybee - believing the worst was over. However, a wonderful neighbor raced over and asked us why we returned. She ordered us to go with her and stay with her family much further inland. Great neighbor and family. My poor mother-in-law was devastated that her neighbor was a better Christian that her own sister!!!!!!!
The problem with ignoring history (or destroying it as some are want) is that one looses a sense of perspective.
