Trump to Congress: Legalize DACA! (or I Will Revisit)
Breitbart.com ^ | 5 Sep 2017 | Adam Shaw

President Trump called on Congress to “legalize” DACA late Tuesday, just hours after his administration announced the repeal of the amnesty for children brought to the country illegally — promising that he will “revisit this issue” if Congress does not turn DACA into legislation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the repeal of the Obama era executive order — known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — both on constitutional grounds and also on principle.

“The effect of this unilateral executive amnesty, among other things, contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border that yielded terrible humanitarian consequences,” Sessions said. “It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.”

The move saw significant opposition from Democrats and voices in the media, while even some Republicans who formerly opposed DACA called for Congress to act to resolve the issue with legislation.

The rollback includes a six-month delay so as to allow Congress to act if it so chose. The White House had expressed hope that the issue could be included as part of a broader immigration legislation package, with Trump tweeting that he hoped to work with Democrats and Republicans for a reform “that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.”

But by late Tuesday, Trump appeared to have turned into a paper tiger on the key campaign promise to get rid of DACA, saying he would “revisit this issue” if Congress did not “legalize DACA.”

Your argument makes no sense because:

” Other factors are Trump not being all that great with word selection and Trump ALWAYS deferring to law and order - DACA, of course, is illegal and Trump knows there’s nothing he can do alone to make it legal”

Okay..so what exactly is he going to do when he revisits it.

This isn't what you think it is. Trump is baiting Congress right now. The GOPe desperately wants to pass DACA into law, but if they do something for the benefit of 800,000 illegal aliens after failing to fix ObamaCare -- which affects tens of millions of American citizens -- they are literally going to be taking their lives into their hands.

He is already wobbling, throwing a lifeline to congress.
He did NOT have to make that tweet.
Everything was good up to that.
Now he looks like he is going overboard
for illegal dreamers.

‘DADA is o.k. if Congress passes it.’

far as I know, DADA needs no approval from Congress; just lousy artists...

You have nothing to make that leap, absolutely nothing. Justify your claim he caved. If he had caved he would have done nothing and let it run without any action at all.

This tact has far more to do with a much bigger picture of draining the swamp by drawing those RINOs out for eventual primary challenges. He gave no indication whatsoever that a ‘revisit’ would be anything other than ending it altogether with no Congressional action.

Again, he has not only handed them enough rope to hang themselves, but instead they are now holding two of them with both firmly tied off and waiting for a little tightening.

Here is another article from the same source. Donald Trump Speaks: ‘Really We Have No Choice’ but End DACA

I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to finally address all of these issues in a manner that puts the hardworking citizens of our country first.

As I’ve said before, we will resolve the DACA issue with heart and compassion – but through the lawful Democratic process – while at the same time ensuring that any immigration reform we adopt provides enduring benefits for the American citizens we were elected to serve. We must also have heart and compassion for unemployed, struggling, and forgotten Americans

Have you guys not figured out that DJT is playing 3D chess? If Congress ‘legalizes’ it, then they are exposed for what they really are - and I doubt if DJT would sign it if they did.

What he is doing is bringing the topic up front and center that there is nothing legal about DACA. And he is giving Congress the opportunity to chop their own head off by coming up with a legal solution.

And the revisit part? Just putting Congress on notice that they better not come back with something that is against the will of the American people.

Don’t bet against DJT on this. He is the master negotiator / manipulator to get things he wants. May take him a while but eventually he gets results.

He’s not...he’s shaming Congress every step of the way. They haven’t done their job for 40 years and he is publically shaming them on it. He’s showing the American people how much Congress is in this for themselves and not for who they represent.

The lengths people go to contort things in some kind of 38 DD chess move is amazing to me.

End DACA

Let Congress pass it legally

Fine

BUT THEN he decides to revisit it. Dude, just end DACA. Its then up to Congress.

He doesn't want Congress to act on it.

He's giving them an excuse to do exactly what he wants them to do ... NOTHING.

I'll explain in more detail in a little while.

Not what he said! Does no good to speculate to the point of lying. Especially here on FR.

Read the ‘script’.

If you try to bring it up via the Senate...there’s easily forty-six Democrats and around eight Republicans. So they could craft this and pass it with the McCain-club in tow.

But then you come to the House. You would need 218 members to pass. So you count up...194 Democrats. You would have to find 24 GOP members. At best, I would suggest that you can only find ten GOP members who would go and vote for this. It’ll fail in the House.

So, I think what Trump is designing is his tax reform package that will couple up to the DACA episode. You will get one with the other.

Naturally, the McCain-character will spend hours and hours on TV and blaming Trump, but Trump will bring out the thirty-odd House members to deliver DACA as part of a total package. McCain will have to accept tax reform...same for McConnell.

So it’ll pass. But here’s the thing. The current DACA package is built with age discrimination written all over it. If it ever passed (it never did on the eight occasions it was up for passage)....it would have gone to the Supreme Court within two years. Trump knows that. The Supreme Court will invalidate it within two years of passage because of the discrimination.

McCain will sit there shocked in 2021 as this comes up and screaming that DACA needs to fixed yet again after being revoked by the Supremes.

Settle back...enjoy the show, and the whole way that we will get tax reform to occur. It’ll all be one single package...accept tax reform and you get DACA (temporarily).

So you believe the Uniparty is going to accomplish something despite all evidence to the contrary.

When they fail to act Trump has a blank check to do whatever he wants.

Any policy towards illegals must - MUST - address the incentives that are set up by that policy. Are you incentivizing more to try their hand at illegal entry or are you incentivizing them to stay home and apply through the legal process?

With 600 million people south of our porous non-existent southern border and untold millions outside the Americas who might also avail themselves of this easy access, there can be only one immigration policy - Stop giving prizes for illegal entry.

Any measure that permits those who entered illegally to benefit from that illegal act is amnesty. And any amnesty will bring millions more invaders.

This must be stopped.

Will you help stop this?
You can help:

The interesting part about this is, Latinos continue to support Democrats who never deliver. When will the Latinos wake up?

Congress is afraid to legalize it, and the President knows it.

Congress won't be able to legalize it fast enough is my prediction. Ryan is for it in the House. There are probably at least 60 votes for it in the Senate. It'll pass.
