I guess he was not prepared for her to be president, either. He sure as heck blew her chances to hell when he announced her investigation again just before the election. Ending it soon after gave he appearance of intimidation even to many leftists I knew. They voted for Trump even though they hated him, this included cultural New Yorkers who would have supported Clinton prior to this debacle.
