You need a newspaper printing company after that post!
.....”ETL - he’s still fighting the Cold War and will until the day he dies.....”
Yes.....
Even the Military Leaders say that the old cold war horse mentality of those still in office are part of the problem...they view everything through the lens of the past and fail to see the world stage as it is today.
Just wanted to properly lay out the Trump administration’s view of KGB/FSB Putin. Have to admit, I was a little concerned about Trump early on given some of his flattering opinions and remarks to Putin. Fortunately, he’s since been set straight by those in the know around him, and properly others.
How have you guys managed to miss the fact that the Russians, under thug Putin, have aggressively attacked their neighbors in an ongoing effort to retake their former Soviet states and basically restore the evil empire? Do you suddenly become blind when reading that part?
LOLOL...Well seems to me it's Nato that's surrounding Russia....
Growing up in SAC thought be a few things . I may have been a kid but I was also paying attention . How many of our RB-47 crews never came back , and went unreported . If dad were alive today I know what he’d say , “let’s avoid getting into that CF again “
Like the old saying goes “ If ya can’t beat um , join um “
I say America and Russia should link up and kick some serious ass . Everyone else would play nice , or else . What’s wrong with that ?
and screw the U.N.
You can certainly think that if you want to....
I suspect this was not a “test” but, rather, a demonstration.
We won’t use these things to shoot down Nork missiles unless their trajectories are dangerous. Shooting down test shots gives observers, Norks and Russians and Chinese, information about the software and the capabilities of the antimissiles. If we get lasers in theater or railguns, that problem won’t be so big a deal.
You make a good point about revealing capabilities, but they’ve already fired a middle over Japanese territory. I would say that was dangerous. I just don’t think they can allow little Kim to keep popping off bottle rockets all over the neighborhood without responding at some point.
A couple of unannounced and unadmitted cruise missiles at significant locations would be an appropriate response but not so soon as to be obviously connected to the launch. We would then offer our sympathies to the civilians injured in the NK accidents.
All good. I know it sounds impressive to some, but never forget, code is good, reactions are on cue, we hit what we want to.
That’s all I’ll say.

“To be honest, the Aegis-class ships starting with the Ticonderoga are about the same displacement, and they’re called “cruisers.” “
To be honest a 36000 ton frigate armed with 8 Harpoon missiles could sink or severely damage three WW2 battle ships without even being seen. I am not sure you can directly compare ships between today and WW2
Boost phase interception is difficult for the reason you mentioned; it is very short. Terminal phase is also very difficult because of the speed of the re-entry’s vehicle, Mach 13 or so. That’s why the ABM system deployed in Europe is a mid-course interceptor.
I think this falls under the category of OPSEC or Operational Security. In Trump's words, not telling the bad guys what we have or when we intend to use it or where. So I'm not worrying. Or asking.
Wonder if any of the tech Clinton sold to China ended up in North Korea? The Clintons did way more damage to the US than Obama did but he is a very close second.
