No not really sport. The Amtracs are based in Galveston already with the USMC reserve. They can operate where boats cannot. They can crash right through debris and crap that would destroy the prop or hull on your bass boat. They can hold A LOT of people. They can go across flats and sand. They can go as far inland as needed to a drop off point.
And they come with a USMCR crew that is trained and will get the job DONE.

I doubt they care how you think it looks.

That vehicle is a direct descendent of the WWII DUKW, which was used by the Marines from Guadalcanal onwards, and in just about every amphibious operation to the end of the war.
