“They have no allegiance to liberal democracy”: an expert on antifa explains the group

When Donald Trump used the phrase “alt-left” to describe the anti-neo-Nazi protesters in Charlottesville last week, most people had no idea what he meant. I’m actually not sure he knew what he meant.

“What about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the ‘alt-right’? Do they have any assemblage of guilt?” Trump said during a rambling press conference.

If the alt-left exists, it’s probably best represented by “antifa” (short for “anti-fascist”) — a loose network of left-wing activists who physically resist people they consider fascists. These are often the scruffy, bandana-clad people who show up at alt-right rallies or speaking events in order to shut them down before they happen, and they openly embrace violence as a justifiable means to that end.

Antifa is not a monolithic organization, nor does it have anything like a hierarchical leadership structure. It’s an umbrella group that shares a number of causes, the most important of which is resisting white nationalist movements. Adherents are mostly socialists, anarchists, and communists who, according to Mark Bray, a historian at Dartmouth College and author of Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, “reject turning to the police or the state to halt the advance of white supremacy. Instead they advocate popular opposition to fascism as we witnessed in Charlottesville.”

I reached out to Bray to discuss the group and its burgeoning impact on American politics. He’s sympathetic to antifa’s cause and makes no effort to hide that. He describes the book as “an unabashedly partisan call to arms that aims to equip a new generation of anti-fascists with the history and theory necessary to defeat the resurgent far right.”(continued)

See my FR Home page for just about all you’d want to know about today’s communist-anarchist protest groups.

Vague political designations like alt right or alt left are ripe for causing confusion at best, and being deliberately used to conflate political opponents with univesisally condemned groups at worse. When snaping like rabid hyenas the media tried using alt right to equivocate between Trump suppoeters and white racists. Trump coined the term alt left to illustrate to the brain dead reporters how their thinking was sloppy. But they were too stupid or had their heads too far up their butts to take the meaning. Its pathetic to see these morons are paid attention to by anyone.

Okay, I read most of that claptrap, at the link and a whole LOT of it is bovine excrement and NOT factual history at all!

Antifa in Europe and here, in America, go much father back than Trump even throwing his hat into the ring in '15!

And these little BROWN SHIRTS have been destroying property and beating people, at every almost every single G-20, G-7, and other such events.

Hell, they will set fires, chant, break windows and skulls at the drop of a hat. They are against Capitalism, companies of every sort, banks, and even the commemoration Veterans' Day and lefty pols! They are also against college/university tuition hikes,

You're welcome. But it's not only about ANTIFA. There are other communist/anarchist groups in this as well.

Intro from my FR Home page...

"...here’s a Wikipedia piece that will likely be “revised” at some point by some lefty editor, if it hasn't been already...

I've bold highlighted FOUR members of the coalition, as I will hope to shine some additional light on them.

Re: "Unite The Right" rally in Charlottesville

“Groups counterprotesting included representatives from the [*]National Council of Churches,[49] Black Lives Matter,[50] Anti-Racist Action,[51] Antifa,[3] the Democratic Socialists of America,[52] the Workers World Party,[53] the Revolutionary Communist Party,[54] Redneck Revolt,[55] the Industrial Workers of the World,[56][57] the Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Council,[58] and Showing Up for Racial Justice.[51][59][60]”

These Blackshirt fascists called Bush and the police fascists back in the early 2000s when they rioted.

Bunch of duck and coverup doublespeak from damned Commies, again.

Stalinists lie. Always

Redneck Revolt. Must be trying to sell “the peoples revolution” to those they consider downtrodden put upon by The Man.

How is helping homofascists change clothes in a women’s locker room going to benefit their bottom line at the mill?

Where do they get their funding from? I’m sure some are mom & dad backed(if they know it or not), plus a few with jobs. There are still many that seem too organized for the commie grass-roots crowd, and they show up everywhere. Kind of like Trustifarians, but without the RangeRovers.

Yes, I and others have been posting about the communist/anarchist groups for many years here. Me, since at least 2010, and very likely earlier.

I didn't post this thread linked below, but contributed.

First paragraph says, basically:
A loose group of non-associated people with a common goal and no national leadership - oh, wait - here is one of their national leaders who wrote their basic manifesto and field policy guide.....

I mean. What? How stupid are journalists.
