Recommendation? Need a Really Comfortable Travel Car, Think Sofa, With Wheels.

Recent car history Mazda MPV 1998 back when it was a great vehicle Xterra Golf TDi Jeep Sahara Unlimited

Now I need a travelin' car. I would keep the Jeep but it is too noisy.

Stopped in at a Volvo dealership and tried a s60, too stiff a ride for long trips and not comfortable seats.

Any recommendations for a really comfortable car? Just for me and perhaps one other passenger and our luggage?

I am thinking of a 2015 or 2016. All wheel drive would be nice. A little retro would be fine too.

Any ideas?

Subaru Outback or Forester.

We just got an Outback. It’s comfy, lots of cool safety features with Eyesight, and all wheel drive, and reasonably priced.

Hyundai Sonata.

With heated seats.

Lease a new one—the 2018s have just come out.

A Crown Victoria would be a nice ride. My 1975 Monte Carlo was a nice ride. A full grown man could stretch out across the back seat. Not that I ever joined him.

Lexus. What Cadillac should have become. New start around $40k, but great as used cars too. New ones have great back seats.

No romance or excitement, just bullet-proof, long distance comfort.

Don’t give in to the naysayers.

Toyota Avalon
GMC trucks from 2015 and on have great seats and are quiet. I prefer mine over ANY car. Nice ride if you keep 30 psi in tires when you don’t have a load.

We both think our Camry has very comfortable seats and it is quiet. When we recently rented the lady kept telling us how comfortable the Mazda seats were, she raved about them. I was doubtful, but she was correct, I don’t think I adjusted myself once in 500 miles.

I’ve taken my 2015 Challenger on several very long trips (up to 18 hours per day). Quiet, very comfortable for two people, big trunk, loaded with entertainment tech, great ride, good gas mileage (i’ve got the 305 HP V6). It’s as close as I could find to the concept of the 1970’s “personal luxury” coupe. I can drive it all day long and feel great when I arrive.

I second the motion for Subaru Outback. I must have sat in 50 cars at the International Auto Show. That car was the most comfortable, roomy & nicest interior, IMO. Love my Suby!
