23 August 2017 The United Nations body monitoring implementation of the global convention on prohibiting racial discrimination has called on high-level politicians and public officials of the United States to unequivocally and unconditionally reject and condemn racist hate speech and crimes in Charlottesville and throughout the country.
We are alarmed by the racist demonstrations, with overtly racist slogans, chants and salutes by white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan, promoting white supremacy and inciting racial discrimination and hatred, said Anastasia Crickley, Chairperson of UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), in a news release.
In a decision issued under its 'early warning and urgent action' procedure, the Committee, which monitors implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, stated there should be no place in the world for racist white supremacist ideas or any similar ideologies that reject the core human rights principles of human dignity and equality.
The United States ratified the Convention in 1994. In addition to the criminal investigation of the individual who ploughed his car into a crowd of peaceful protestors killing a woman, the UN experts asked the US authorities to undertake concrete measures to address the root causes of the proliferation of such racist manifestations.
We call on the US Government to investigate thoroughly the phenomenon of racial discrimination targeting, in particular, people of African descent, ethnic or ethno-religious minorities, and migrants, added Ms. Crickley. CERD also called on the Government to ensure that the rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly are not exercised with the aim of destroying or denying the rights and freedoms of others, and also asked it to provide the necessary guarantees so that such rights are not misused to promote racist hate speech and racist crimes.
Members of CERD are independent human rights experts drawn from around the world, who serve in their personal capacity and not as representatives of States parties.

I guess they haven’t been watching Black Lies Matter the last couple of years. They have burned down whole towns, as well as killing multiple police officers.
What a bunch of idiotic, politically motivated BS and hypocrisy from these UN officials. Trump has condemned bigotry and racism repeatedly, but the left-wingers around the world continue to distort and spin the truth. I’ve never seen more fake, fraudulent, unjustified hysteria about absolutely nothing in my entire life. This just shows that in the western world now there are certain subjects that a white man simply cannot discuss without being called a racist. OK, so we’ll just have to drop the entire subject of confederate monuments and say “no comment” if asked about this subject, because it can’t be discussed and debated any more in western society.
Time to move the UN out of USA/NYC and to Kenya or Saudi.
Sick of these leftist globalists...who live in FantasyLand.
BLM and AntiFa are promoting racial discrimination and racial violence.
The UN can go f itself.
Amen!
You mean like events where towns were burnt down, cops killed after the ‘hands up, don’t shoot” mockery of the law.
LOL - I was going to look it up then thought 'some freeper's beat me to it - better look first'... My only surprise is the Saud's aren't on the list... they're soooooooo open minded and all.
Half these countries are dictatorships or other-religion intolerant Islamic states, and the rest don’t have Constitutions limiting what government can do, except to make up shit when whoever is in power (Belgium and Ireland, I’m talking to you!)...
FU the UN Dictators Club! OUT of my Country.
Get back to me when they condemn Saudi Arabia’s oppression of women, Iran for declaring destruction of Israel a top priority, China for pervasive censorship, Venezuela for starvation-level oppression, Zimbabwe for racial slaughter of farmers, etc.
A couple hundred neo-Nazis spouting off slogans isn’t an international crisis, nor is hysteria manifest as destroying historical memorials of all kinds. MYOB, UN.
It’s possible that I might have missed it, but was that right after they condemned Muslim countries for their failure to unequivocally reject racist violent events?
Unlike most of the Member Nations in the UN, the United States Constitution guarantees our Citizens the Right to Free Speech.
Do they want us to outlaw Free Speech?
Revise our Constitution?
How about Public Executions of Nazis, White Nationalists, Trump Supporters and Republicans?
Will that make them feel better?
The answer, all of the above and a lot more.
Pot calling kettle black.
F the UN
Every one of those countries allows open racism.
I’ve never even heard of Mauritania and Mauritius, I’ll have to look them up.
