Exclusive— Rick Santorum Crafting Different Obamacare Repeal Plan with Lawmakers: ‘It Will Pass (tr)
Breitbart ^ | August 22, 2017 | MATTHEW BOYLE & SEAN MORAN

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Monday that he is working with a broad coalition of Republicans in both the House and Senate, along with several governors, to develop a new effort to repeal Obamacare.

The effort, which comes after serious tumult with prior legislation in both the House and the Senate, would devolve power over healthcare away from the federal government and back to the states. It would allow each of the 50 states to individually craft their own plans, and would mirror the effort led by Santorum in the mid-1990s which saw the only successful entitlement reform in the nation’s history.

Coming from Santorum, it's hard to know whether this is a serious effort that will get real consideration, or an exercise in self-promotion.

On paper the general approach looks good. Getting it done by September 30 seems implausible.

Santorum? He’s NOT in Congress. What a lying loser in the league of Lyn’ Ted. He’s simply trying to get another 15 minutes of fame, pad his pocket with lobbying or other monies. Definitely not going to run for office—had to fess up to being Virginia resident instead of lying about living in Pennsylvania.

I still like Santorum. 3 nationally televised debates with Casey in 06’. Wiped the floor with him knowing he’d lose in a wave election.

It probably STINKS ON ICE and just WHY ( is it even legal ? ) for a FORMER office holder, but now just a CITIZEN, to craft and submit a Bill, to Congress?

And IF it passes...Trump should VETO it; it's still "GOVERNMENT/SOCIALIZED" CRAP!

Well, it likely won’t be the constitutional approach I would like, and it won’t simply repeal like we were promised, and there are probably other problems with this, and I don’t like Ricky any more than anyone else here. But if it passes, and is incrementally better than what we have now, and prevents single-payer, and undoes Obama’s signature “accomplishment”, and gives Trump and the Republicans a legislative victory, the optics might just be worth it.

Anyone can propose legislation. To have it considered, you need to persuade a Member to introduce it. If Santorum sees a path forward, let him try. Are you waiting for Trump to come up with something? Trump has done nothing at any point on health care except to tweet about other people's bills. And to continue to pay the Obamacare subsidies.

Oh I know that; however, this is, in way, far worse; it’s an EX-SENATOR and he announced it....PUBLICLY!

Lots of ex-Senators and ex-Congress Critters become paid lobbyists. So . . . only difference is as far as I know, he isn’t collecting a big fat paycheck from Big Pharma or Insurance Companies or Medical Device Mfgs.

“...It would allow each of the 50 states to individually craft their own plans....”

Yeah, can you imagine the DISASTEROUS, SINGLE PAYER plan that California would come up with....God forbid. The idea that these communists have already put forward would DOUBLE the state budget...that they cannot even begin to pay already. Total insanity....

Of course ex-Congress Critters become lobbyists; are you suffering under the delusion that I don'/t know all of this/fell of the turnip truck this morning? If so, please allow me to dissuade you of that assumption.

You're missing my point!

Santorum isn't a lobbyist, AFAIK; this is just him being an arsehole attentionwhore.
