No, he/she/it got an Obamaphone and went digital.
That is my attitude. I once perused such a local rag, until they went full Simpsons and became exclusively shills for the Left.
I had read some sort of excerpt of a music or movie review from the VV somewhere. So in college I used to go to the university library and scan the Voice for something interesting. Needless to say, a naive Midwestern farm boy found much ‘interesting’ about the Village Voice.
No wonder it took me until age 53 to finally venture to Bite the Big Apple, by then the maggots had been largely removed by Giuliani.
help = held.
People in nursing homes ,extended care facilities, and graves just quit reading the rag
So in a way, it's Fox News's crazy hippie uncle-in-law.
Wow. It was bad enough when they were going for free. It was a great read in the 60s, 70s, 80, early 90s...Sidney Zion, Nat Hentoff, Andrew Sarris, Michael Feingold, Eric Asimov, James Wolcott (once their token conservative).
...and the great Stanley Crouch. How could I forget him?
Too much hate crime in the paper by the writers so they closed down the paper.
I live a dozen miles west of “the village”, and honestly didn’t know it was still in print. Used to see some around when local whites used to hang out there; now most of those whites no longer live in my area so maybe that’s why it disappeared.
I miss Nat Hentoff. I didn’t realize until you mentioned him and I thought to look him up, that he died in January...
He was a great guy.
