I'm currently watching it on a college campus near Kansas City. Walking over, a student asked me when it would start, and then said she had to drive back to KC then. Would it be safe, she asked, to drive during the eclipse?

Also, this AM the morning news here assured everyone all roads would remain open during totality.

You can spend more time stopped at a railroad crossing than the duration of a total eclipse.

I check Saint Joseph, Missouri’s website the other day (long totality duration there.). It said that they were “prepared” for the eclipse.
