LOL ... smartass. Well played.
The comments section is classic!
It must be difficult waking up every day and being offended by EVERYTHING, including the solar system.
Total solar eclipses happen on earth roughly every 1 and half years. Since the earth is mostly ocean most of them happen there where no people actually live. Therefore of course the eclipses hate people in general but this one will be particularly racist. Yep we are living in an idiocracy.
I'd say the black population in South Carolina alone probably outnumbers total population in a lot of the other states that are in the path of the eclipse. So this author's feeble attempt to turn even natural events into something racist falls short.
Probably takes a lot of work.
“The campus Black Lives Matter group has expressed concern also.
Davarius Goldblatt, the BLM leader said The eclipse is an example of natural racism. The darkness is the hope of power for the African people yet it doesnt last and is eventually extinguished by the coming of the light. That is oppression and we will not participate.”

Ah. Says “SATIRE.”
Sadly, The Atlantic article is not intentionally satirical.
Reminds me of the youtube spoof “Everything is Racist” of the Leggo movie song.

One of those idiots will make the demand that we tear down the eclipse.
There was a black out in my neighborhood last night.
Then the police arrived and made him get back into his car.
