The United States and its allies will work together to “drive the evil of radical Islamic terror from the face of the Earth,” Vice-President Mike Pence pledged Thursday, responding to an ISIS-claimed terror attack in Barcelona.
“This is a tragic day,” he said during a visit to Panama. “And the latest scenes of carnage and mayhem sicken us all.”
Thirteen people were killed and scores more injured when a van was driven into a crowd of pedestrians in the Spanish city’s popular tourist district – the latest in a string of deadly vehicle-ramming attacks in European cities since last summer.
Police arrested two men, and hours later reported having shot dead four suspects in the nearby port town of Cambrils after another attempted attack. A fifth suspect shot in Cambrils died later.
Pence said that “the people of Barcelona should know, our prayers and the prayers of all the American people are with the victims, their families, and all the good people of Spain.”
He noted that the attack was the worst on Spanish soil since the March 2004 Madrid bombings (in which 191 people were killed in a series of rush-hour train bombings claimed by al-Qaeda.)
And he said that “it shows us again that radical Islamic terrorism is one of the greatest threats that we face today.”
“ISIS has taken credit for this barbaric act,” Pence continued, “but whoever is responsible should know, that the United States, together with our allies, will find and punish those responsible, and drive the evil of radical Islamic terror from the face of the Earth.”

Wishful thinking. You can’t get rid of Islamic terror unless you get rid of Islam. They are all potential jihadists.
And?
Oh how I wish he really meant it.
There is no radical Islam.
There is just Islam.
It has been at war with the rest of humanity since 622 A.D.
It’s in their “holy” book to conquer, subjugate or kill all non-muslims.

There are two possible cures for Radical Islamic Terrorism, total eradication of Moslems, genocide if you will, and forced and monitored conversion of ALL living Moslems to liturgical Christianity. Anything less is half measures and guarantees future Jihad.
I do not trust Pence.

There is some hope that a named enemy can be defeated — while fighting an abstraction (e.g. terror) is a hopeless cause.
Mike Pence your a nice guy, but give me a break, the same allies that are permitting ISIS type characters to settle in their countries are going to help us crush radical Islam?
This is a repost, because I think it so beautifully illustrates the reality of the situation.
I saw a cartoon. It was labeled “The Difference Between Jihadis and Moderate Muslims.” It was too Middle Eastern men side by side. The foaming, angry figure on the left was labeled “Jihadi.” His bubble read, “If you do not convert to Islam I will kill you!” The one on the right was labeled “Moderate.” He is pointing at the other guy and his bubble read, “If you do not convert to Islam, he will kill you.”
Sounds great! But meanwhile the administration is still funding PLO and arming the Abbas- PLO and hezbellah terrorist murder gangs
I think he’d better run this by Tillerson first.

Pence should focus on driving commie terror from our own country.
The US and Allies are not prepared to be harsh enough to destroy radical muhamedanism. In human experience, the only time that muhamedanism is ‘peaceful’, is when confronted with overwhelming force. At present, no countries have the will to stand up to, and overcome radical muhamedanism.
During the European colonial period, radical muhamedanism was restricted to areas outside of European influence. There was no such thing as ‘radical islam’, it WAS muhamedanism, as taught and lived, by muhamed. As the European navies grew in power, they would ally intermittently with the Barbary pirates, against the European nation or nations they fighting. The European powers finally having defeated Napoléon in 1815, and made peace through the Congress of Vienna, began to focus on preventing the muhamedan ships from attacking the European coasts and shipping. That, combined with ever improving naval technology, forced the Berbers to eventually give up their attacks on European and American shipping and coastal raids for slaves.
During the period from the ‘scramble for Africa’ (1881-1914) until the devolution of the European empires in the 1950s-’80s, there was little ‘radical muhamedanism’. As the European nations conquered Africa and other places, muhamedanism was forced to ‘reform’, removing the most barbarous, non-Western aspects of its system. The Europeans forced them to ‘play nice’ and removed all preachers who were unwilling to ‘play nice’.
Because the most brutal parts of muhamedanism were not taught by the vast majority of muhamedan preachers for five six, or seven (sometimes more) generations, it did become a sort of ‘religion of peace’. Unfortunately, as the European empires devolved, some muhamedan preachers started preaching muhamedanism as MadMo taught and lived it. To get back to a ‘peaceful’ muhamedanism I think, would require a reconquest and recolonization of Africa, the Middle East and much of Asia. NO nation or nations has the desire more the treasury to do such a thing. THIS IS THE EASY SOLUTION!
The DIFFICULT, but BEST solution begins with Christians adhering to 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Matthew 5:43-48. Note that in the latter passage, the word ‘love’ is translated from the Greek word ‘agape’. It does not mean that we are to be ‘best buddies’ with ‘radical muhamedans’, nor love them like family, rather ‘agape’ means to make a conscious decision to love them, seeing them as God sees them; seeing them as lost sheep.
This idea is not merely a ‘new’ idea appearing in the New Testament. Take a read of the Book of Jonah. Instead of following God’s Will and travelling to Nineveh (present day Mosul, Iraq), he seeks passage on a ship to Tarshish (Spanish Mediterranean coast), running the opposite way, away from God. On first read it would appear that Jonah feared for his life by going to Nineveh. Instead, in Chapter 4, we see that he did not want to see God forgive the Ninevites rather, he wanted God’s Justice poured onto the Ninevites.
How different are we from Jonah? (And I most definitely include ‘me’ among the ‘we’.) How much better a solution would it be to follow God’s way, as described in the Book of Jonah, and as spoken by Jesus in Matthew above? I have a number of ‘Ninevehs’ in my life to resolve.
Human nature being what it is, we ask for God’s mercy on us, yet we ask His Justice against those who hurt, insult or inconvenience us. Unfortunately, the former solution is the easier solution for man to deal with.
