I don’t know.

I remember several years ago when Moslem terrorists seized an Indian city. Several times I saw Indian Army soldiers armed with Lee Infields. Probably newly made in .308 but still not exactly the most advanced weaponry.

On the other hand those Infields could be effective.

I spelled Enfield correctly then let auto spell correct it without noticing that it auto incorrect-ed.

That was the Railroad station in Mumbai. India has a Railway police service that is armed with old Enfields-- in .303!

But they're not the Army. Indian Army is well trained and equipped. It's an all volunteer service, and they turn away many recruits as an Army career is very desirable to poor villagers.

It is the 2nd largest standing army in the world, with 1,200,255 active troops & 990,960 reserve troops.
