International buyers purchased 34,135 Texas homes during the year that ended with the first quarter, according to a new report by the Texas Association of Realtors.

Foreigners and Kalifornicans. It’s no wonder we’re losing The Lone Star State.
Believe me, our inflated appraisal is ridiculous. At one time, exactly 50% of the homes on our street were up for sale because the owners couldn’t afford the property tax. Of course, the property tax bill failed this week in the money grubbing legislature.
One down the street from us was bought by a middle eastern guy named Mohammed. I didn’t find out until after he moved but it seems he may have been using it as some sort of safe house or something else scary. He’d drive up with a couple of younger middle eastern looking guys with backpacks and caps on their heads. They’d go in and he’d leave shortly after. The guys wouldn’t been seen again until Mohammed would come back a few days later, go inside and bring them out. Rinse and repeat every few days. Now, mind you, this is a tourist area and the house is on the water but none of the “guests” ever grilled outside, ever went swimming or fishing, ever went out on the boat, ever poked their heads out. So, what’s up with that?
Miss the Times Herald after all these years.
So exactly HOW will these foreigners take their new asset out of the country?
Didn’t think so. Sorry.
Thanks for contributing to the property tax scam, though.
I hope that in the future, after a terrorist attack, you don’t wish you had made a call to the DHS. Just saying.
Yep. The chaos in Venezuela is no doubt making a lot of well to do Latin Americans wonder where they would go if the Left took control of their countries.
It doesn’t matter. When the collapse comes, they are left with nothing. Same as Japan a few decades ago, buying up California. The Japs were left holding the bag.
What law says you have to be a citizen to buy property?
You have to be a citizen to vote. That was the subject of the post. Go back and look.
These states are starting to get crowded
And, if they invest a big enough amount, they also get a Visa.
How nice of the USA.
Most countries do not allow this. We need limits.
That investment includes hiring a minimum of 10 Americans. Were you not aware of that or did you just not want to include it?
What’s actually nice is to live in a high end condo building, in Houston, and half of the owners (foreigners) are hardly ever there.
We have friends who do and they say it’s great not having noisy neighbors, the amenities - and like outdoor pool - always have plenty open chairs, parking spaces, etc.
That wasn’t the point I was making, but I have no problem with that.
I didn’t omit that on purpose.
On phone, without glasses, while on the road.
Don’t you need to be a citizen or have a green card to purchase property here?
The price of homes around here has skyrocketed because of the Chinese purchases. You now see them in neighborhoods you NEVER saw them in before. Soon all of Queens will be Chinese speaking (oh, you thought they come here to assimilate and be Americans? Ha!) except for a few small islands of English speakers. I feel like I live in a foreign country. I can sit on my porch and watch Chinese after Chinese walk by without variation. Sure wasn't that way 9 or 10 years ago!
“How? Theyd all have to go through the process of becoming American citizens, which takes years. Everything is not a conspiracy.”
No, they don’t. Interestingly the USA offers almost everything for sale to foreigners but the reverse is shockingly NOT the case. Go to EconomyinCrises and look at the business and acres bought by foreigners.
We are so stupid about this....we can buy no land in Mexico for example. Just try buying land in CHina.
