But the democrats didn't know that would happen.

Heck, I bet most conservatives were just as surprised as Obama that McConnell stuck to his guns and kept Scalia's slot open.

And what makes it even more interesting is that 100% 0f the democrats and 90% of the republicans had no doubt whatsoever that Hillary would be elected president.

So before the election almost no one in Washington thought that it mattered when McConnell refused to allow a vote on Obama's nominee.
