Pittsburgh city leaders are looking into whether a statue of musical pioneer Stephen Foster should be moved from a spot along Forbes Avenue in Oakland after years of criticism for its depiction of a black character from one of Foster’s songs.
Foster, a Pittsburgh native who died in 1864, is famous for classic songs including “Oh! Susanna” and “Camptown Races.” Many of his songs were used in minstrel shows in which actors performed in blackface. The statue depicts Foster sitting above a shoeless banjo-playing “Uncle Ned”, a slave character from a Foster song.

These people want to obliterate the slave culture from 150+ years ago that everyone agrees was bad, and much blood and treasure expended to show we really meant it, and they embrace with both arms and the entirety of whatever brain cells they have available, an ideology (communism) responsible for hundreds of millions of murders in the 20th century, an ideology they refuse to condemn, or even admit they did anything wrong.
But hey, they were just soviet peasants on collectives starved to death, or fellow Chinese peasants exterminated because “you can’t make omelettes without breaking a few eggs”.
Make no mistake. The people in that linked photograph would absolutely murder people who disagree with them, because they embrace communism. It is completely okay if done to advance the cause of communism.
I believe the song, “The Old Folks at Home”, had the phrase, “Oh, darkies, how my heart get weary...”
So yeah, definitely a target.
Same vane, I think they’re trying to produce a remake of “Huckleberry Finn” (movie), which agitators are already trying to prevent (similar to muslims preventing a movie about ho maammad a couple of decades, or more, ago).

It’s to preserve their base’s votes overall. They’re in trouble or they wouldn’t be doing this. It’s their only play right now.
If the GOPe wasn’t sleeping with them, they’d be executing a plan to put the liberals completely out of power even considering their inept leadership in the House and Senate. They have no desire to do that though. They’re playing along with them by either being quiet or making feel good statements about last Saturday.
Then there’s the double whammy Washington Redskins. Now they have to change both names. How about the Obamaville Politicians. Has a ring to it.

Stephen Foster was born in Lawrenceville before it was incorporated into the City of Pittsburgh, which allows historical revisionists to credibly claim he’s not from Pittsburgh.
Strike Three. You’re out, Foster.

I agree. Jim comes through better than anybody else. What they call the “N-word” was originally just the Southern pronunciation of “Negro,” which had morphed into “nigra” and was slurred to its present form. It became a pejorative term later, of course, and I wish blacks would stop using it.
It’s a lovely statue, and yes, he did do a lot to make black people more human in the eyes of their non-black fellow citizens. So I guess heads have got to roll.

I think so.. The dems as usual are stuck on stupid. This is occurring in leftwing areas but it reflects on their entire party. A few polls already show the majority of Americans are against this and it’s not just about statues. Most people get this is a full on assault against white western culture.

A good debate question for 2018 and 2020 would be: Do you favor or oppose the removal of Confederate statues?
Of course, good questions require good panelists. We don’t have any of those anymore.
