Interesting that you make that analogy. The huge difference is the Secret Service and LEO's in attendance. The Stones made the mistake of hiring the Hell's Angels for security. Jagger has long admitted it was a huge mistake. He thought some beer and the "security" label would keep people in check and appease the HA's in their own territory.
If you've never seen the movie, "Altamont", it shows what went wrong. It was the HA's that made a mess of that concert. They were all over the stage and picking fights with people in the crowd because they touched their bikes, or attacking people who were trying to climb on stage because of the lack of a security buffer zone that all large concerts now have.
A band member of the Jefferson Airplane was punched out by a HA earlier and they quit and just walk off stage. Surprisingly, the Stones still attempted their set. If not, there probably would have been more havoc. Jagger spent much of their set trying to calm things down - to late...the HA's were drunk and wanted to fight.
Silver lining: The movie clearly shows during playback review some black guy in a green leisure suit pointing his gun at Jagger and being knifed to death by an HA. I don't think the HA was even charged. Still...stupid idea by Jagger and management.
