The riots were not about a statue and it was not about the alt-right. Antifa (an umbrella term for different nominally “anti-fascist” groups) has been itching for a real fight for a long time. It was only fun attacking Trump supporters for so long (as they did in Seattle over the weekend), and their exposure in the press has been diminishing. What’s the point of rioting if you can’t get your group on CNN? Sure, you can’t let your identity be known because of potential criminal charges but the mask takes care of that. Then, you can tell your friends for years that you were there that day battling white oppression and fascism. You were Antifa! You were Black Lives Matter!
Trump was right; while the racism of white supremacists is a scourge on the morality of man, Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) are no better; they are merely acceptable progressive racism. Americans are being sold a lie. Charlottesville was a deliberate plan by the left to provoke a confrontation of such scale that all of America would notice and opinion would again break their way. It’s wrong, yes, but since progressives are on the side of all that is right and just, no depravity or moral turpitude is unacceptable in attaining their goals, which are simple -- universal liberal governance.
Why do you think Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, held back the many hundreds of State Police troopers and National Guardsmen that were on site? Why do you think Charlottesville mayor Michael Signer, another Democrat, ordered the more than 300 police officers on hand to stand down?

The civil and cultural war we are in hasn't occurred because of Antifa, it has materialized because the fascist/communist ideologies are now being advocated by a huge number of major institutions and players in America. First they will go for the symbols (statues, etc) to build and propel their movement. Then they will come for you if you won't conform and support.
You are going to have to accept the fact that one half of America isn't American in any true sense of the word.

Some of the followers on the side with the brand new just unwrapped Confederate flags wee probably local WSs but the leadership and organization was all Leftists and hard leftists. The well known WSs turn out to be pretty well known as Obama supporters and activists. The whole thing was a Soros produced and paid op.

However, I agree that popular support (among dems and libs) has become more widespread, particularly during this recent episode in Charlottesville.
I glanced at it. I used to read a great deal of commentary by conservative writers, and then I suddenly realized a thing.
I no longer needed any convincing. The people that need the convincing are the audience for ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. The American public needs convincing, and my reading wonderfully written commentary by conservative writers will not accomplish what needs to be accomplished.
That's when I realized, the only way to reach the people who need to be reached is Television. If it isn't on Television, it doesn't matter. It won't have an impact.
I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I have been thinking for a long time that we need to be working on methodology to get the message past the Censors at the Networks.
Reaching the American people is the only way to succeed. Convincing other conservatives doesn't really accomplish much.

I can't say that you are wrong. It would certainly change the way the left views communism. It would make it personal for them.
Antifa was declared by Germany to be a terrorist organization in 1979.
I didn’t realize they’ve been around that long, either.

The reason the Left is shocked by Trump dividing the violent and the peaceful demonstrators is because Antifa and BLM are to them all part of their movement.
Bill Ayers was an anarchist and celebrated friend of Obama. Violence is part of who runs the Democrst party. They don’t see the violent thugs as different from their run of the mill supporters. They are just more “committed to the cause.”
Leftists believe that words = physical assault. If you’re marching and saying something they disagree with then you’ve been assisted. Violence is the acceptable reaction.
Trump separated peaceful monument supporters from those there for violence and liberal heads exploded. He called out the “alt-left” and they went into meltdown mode.
Trump now has Democrats and MSM siding with violent anarchists carrying Soviet flags.
Much was revealed this week and Trump supporters see Leftists for what they are: violent America-hating thugs intent on destroying our collective history as a communist vanguard to reshape our society starting with gulags for those that disagree.

The liberal-dominated media, entertainment community, academia, etc, all promoted the communist-led "peace" movements of the past, pretending not to know what they really were/are about, who the organizers were/are, and what their true goals were/are. Same with the pro-illegal immigrant rallies.
I do hope they are exposed for everything rotten they have done.
