Primarily, I believe that they are prescribed in order to alter emotions and thoughts.

However, drugs did not put thoughts and ideas into people’s heads.

People put thoughts and ideas into their own head.

Wow, so you never got a thought or an idea from someone else? You must be incredibly brilliant. Even developed your own language that conveniently parallels the one predominately used by most other FReepers...

Look, I get the idea of personal responsibility, and agree. But to rule out external forces as having an influence on behavior is just foolish.

An if we were talking about recreational drugs, alcohol etc. in a "Hold muh beer and watch this!" situation, yeah, I'd be arguing on your side.

And these kids of many colors (happy that I'm not excluding any races?) who were put on Ritalin or similar as children or youth (mostly) did not do it by choice. They were forced by parental, school or other governmental authorities to take them. It was not their personal decision to take them, in most cases.
