If it is really an avalanche (metaphorically speaking) then it can't be stopped by definition. You step aside and let it run out. The average American either has to wake from his stupor and see the evil or we are done as a whole. Yes, I know only 30% (or 20% or some such percentage) of colonists fought the King. But at this point we still need majorities to vote on this stuff.
Or like I said, let the avalanche destroy whatever is in its path and let the American people see that and convince them to fight. Statues can easily be recreated when we win.
