PHOENIX - The Confederate monument that stands at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, just outside the Arizona state Capitol, looked a little different than it usually does Tuesday evening.

In addition to its memorializing of Arizona Confederate soldiers and its erectors, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the statue got a few new decorations.

At the top, a ribbon hung with the words, "You lost, get over it," and at the bottom, the monuments message "A nation that forgets its past has no future" had been covered with a "2nd Place," "Participant" banner.

There were a number of skirmishes in the Arizona territory. One of the more humorous was fought in the saloon of Big Mike Goldwasser, Barry Goldwater's grandfather.

Big Mike had days in which Union sympathizers could come in for a drink and days for Confederate sympathizers. One day a sympathizer came in on the wrong day. Tables hit the floor, men took aim behind them and shots were fired. No one was hit. The battle concluded with Big Mike taking a club he kept behind the bar, smashing it into the head of the man who came in on the wrong day, picking him up and tossing him out of his saloon.

The next day, all his customers behaved.

Colonel Harlan Sanders has given millions of dollars toward education at the higher level. His donations to this day allow a university of higher learning to thrive. The college, LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY. Yea, history and facts are a bitch.

The Arizona Territory seceded from the union. When the war was over, it lost the area around Las Vegas, hence the wandering state boundary in that area instead of the straight line to that point. And still the South and Southerners pay a price for losing.

The Arizona Territory actually seceded from the Union. The only territory to formally do so.

Aaaaaannnd...that’s it in a nutshell.
This is about winning and losing.
The Left can NOT win national elections, so they settle for these small victories.
The more they stamp their feet, the more they become the minority party of minorities.
Grownups and people with measurable IQ’s see thru the drama.....
You idiots keep tearing down statues, we’ll keep winning the Presidency....and governorships....and Congress....and State Legislatures....

“The Attorney General has stated that the vehicle attack in Charlottesville will be investigated as an act of terrorism.”

It wasn’t terrorism. The driver was just playing frogger with democrats.

The Confederacy never lost the Civil War. Its existence was never politically recognized. Andrew Johnson and Jefferson Davis never put a hand to a surrender document.

Instead the bloodiest conflict our country ever endured, that resolved the issues of states’ rights, secession, and slavery, relied exclusively on military actions. These military actions were fought out to the last measure of human endurance. Great men like Grant, Sherman, Lee, and Johnston and their soldiers resolved what should have been political issues. Monuments North and South testify to the sincerity of those few who endured the tragedy of that struggle.

Their involvement came after abolitionists and planters and their political allies failed to identify those positions outside their inflexible ideologies that would have brought peaceful agreement. Instead these fire-eating miscreants of both persuasions stumbled into the Civil War.

Now similar intellectual dwarfs would rewrite this history.

There was a battle Near Picacho during the Civil War. A Union Cavalry Detachment ambushed a Company of Rebel soldiers from Texas. The Rebels were part of the ill fated unit that attempted to take New Mexico for the Confederacy.
After the Battle of Glorieta Pass north of Santa Fe this unit headed into Arizona to stir up trouble. Didn’t turn out well for them at Picacho either.
