Actually, it’s much more specific than that; the acronym NAZI stands for “National Socialist German Worker’s Party”. That’s a very narrow focus for face punching adventures.
NSDAP is the original acronym- DAP is something like Deutsche Arbeiter Partei. I think the Germans always used it, the shorter NAZI is something we cooked up in English for convenience in writing. And because we like to invent pithy nicknames.
