On Sunday, a photojournalist with WTVR, the Richmond, Virginia CBS affiliate, received staples for a head wound inflicted by a group of men who told him to “stop filming” a march through that city to protest Saturday’s Unite the Right rally of white nationalists and alt-right groups in Charlottesville, VA.
The men can be seen in a clip posted on Twitter by WVTR reporter Laura French waving, and possibly hitting the journalist with the classic “Antifaschistische Aktion” used by violent gangs of communist and anarchist street brawlers in Europe since the 1930s. These European-originating leftist groups, commonly referred to as “Antifa,” have grown in size and prominence on this side of the Atlantic in recent years.
The attack followed a similar incident Saturday during the Unite the Right rally the Richmond march was protesting. Suspected Antifa activists punched Taylor Lorenz, a female reporter from The Hill, as she tried to film their activities during the violent morass with white nationalist groups around the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, leading to a local state of emergency being declared.
Breitbart News contacted the governor’s office repeatedly Monday, giving McAuliffe and his staff an opportunity to denounce Antifa violence against journalists. McAuliffe’s office gave no response.
By contrast, McAufille issued an extended denunciation of “Nazis” and “White Supremist [sic]” in the aftermath of Saturday’s aborted Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. Yet then, as Monday, McAuliffe refused, multiple times, to address reporters’ questions about Antifa and other left-wing extremists.

The left has ALWAYS had a romanticized vision of “revolutionary violence” and those who perpetrate such violence. That’s why you can see Che, Mao, Lenin, and others emblazoned on t-shirts across the country. So, it comes as no surprise that AntiFa and Black Lies Matter have been given an honored place in the leftist pantheon of heroes.
The feds need to declare Antifa a terrorist group. They need to call on anyone attending protests masked to be immediately arrested. Make clear terrorism will not be tolerated, that our nation’s political discourse will not be hijacked, the government will not be idle any longer when people attempt to intimidate people at protests.
We need to go the the townhalls that Ds & Rs hold and insist that they denounce Antifa.

“Antifa” traces its lineage directly back to Joe Stalin and the Comintern, Communist International. In one of the greatest applications of disinformation in the past century, the Communists tied the designation of “right-wing” to the Fascists and National Socialists, but only from the perspective of how far to the left the Communists themselves are. Both Fascism and Communism are far to the left side of center, they are selling the same kind of snake oil to the masses. It is a turf war among socialists, and of no connection with individual liberty or the tenets of classic capitalism whatsoever.
Something like “crony capitalism”, the awarding of winners and losers under a command-and-control form of government, is sometimes conflated with the classic definition of capitalism, but that is only a matter of form, and not of substance. REAL capitalism rewards initiative and diligent application of talents, while the “crony capitalists” are always on a very short lease held by the central government, by taxation and regulation, and by the threat of immediate financial ruin if there is any deviation from the party line.

It was in 1979 that the German Government declared Antifa to be a a terrorist organization. I guess nothing has changed.
